A ripe cast indeed for this unusual western, with Lee Marvin as the gunman who fears that his dead opponent Pinto may not be quite as dead as everyone thinks, even if he is buried up on Boot Hill, and Strother Martin, James Best and Lee Van Cleef as the malevolent trio in the saloon who goad him into going up that hill to make sure. There's also the beautiful Elen Willard as an enigmatic girl. The combination of oater and ghost story is very piquant and the actors play it to the hilt. Director-writer Montgomery Pittman, who did plenty of more straightforward western segments for shows like "Cheyenne" and "Maverick", handles things very stylishly.
