  • A look at man's inhumanity as well as man's assumpption that mankind is the only possible intelligience

    8.4
Deep and thought provoking for those who take the time to really try to understand what's being said here. Granted the action is wanting, but the basic idea is sound and all too possible. In the end, when it finally does come, it will most likely be man's ignorance and reluctance to think outside the box!
  • It is 1974, ten years after much of civilization was destroyed by nuclear war. A small community has managed to survive because they have been under the care of a reclusive "old man." Then one day soldiers arrive and take control of the community.moreless

    6.0
This episode has a very good idea for a story, but it suffers from the fact that it is somewhat predictable and has one too many plot holes. It was obvious to me from the beginning that the townspeople turning against the "old man" would be the key to their undoing. Also, I have some questions to ask: first, how did the computer get in the cave? Second, what supplied its power? A good question since there has been a nuclear war and all the power stations have been destroyed. Finally, who built the computer? It's a very flawed episode.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • After the mob has entered the cave, they begin throwing stones at the computer. At one point, one of the hurled stones hits the head of one of the actors standing in the front row. The shot is quickly edited to cut away to remove as much of it as possible, but, you can still see the actor blink as the rock goes on the rest of its journey.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • (Closing Narration)
Narrator: Mr. Goldsmith, survivor, an eye witness to man's imperfection, an observer of the very human trait of greed and a chronicler of the last chapter--the one reading 'suicide.' Not a prediction of what is to be, just a projection of what could be. This has been the Twilight Zone.

    • (Opening Narration)
Narrator: What you're looking at is a legacy that man left to himself. A decade previous he pushed his buttons and, a nightmarish moment later, woke up to find that he had set the clock back a thousand years. His engines, his medicines, his science were buried in a mass tomb, covered over by the biggest gravedigger of them all: a Bomb. And this is the Earth ten years later, a fragment of what was once a whole, a remnant of what was once a race. The year is 1974, and this is the Twilight Zone.
