  • This episode ANNOYED me

    4.0
While I enjoyed the main plot of this episode where the worlds best special forces got together to play a game to test eachothers abilities and see who is the best at what they do, the sub-plot to this episode REALLY ANNOYED me. To sum it up, Kim met one of her ex-boyfriends who was now a very successful business man. He took her on his private jet, brought her to his mansion, bought $300k worth of advertising from her and got his assistant to buy kim a load of new clothes. All this was an over-the-top attempt by the writers for Kim to prove how much she loves her husband bob. It annoyed me because it made me think that the writers thought I was stupid and I would too see her loyality to bob in the face of all this materialistic temptation to believe in her love for her husband. Not only does it highlight how out-of-touch the writers are, it also told me what they think women want and what makes someone irrisistable for a women. It painted an incredibly shallow reality of materialism and it was so unrealistic it literally killed the episode.

Please stop thinking that viewers are this stupid and this naive.moreless
  • A perfect as it gets

    9.8
Whats there not to like in this episode - nothing! CTF games FTW!! The way the exercise begins as nothing more than a mutally beneficial get-together between agencies is spot on.

This setup the main plot of the episode which is the game degenerating into something more sinister as an apparent terrorist (cell) inflitrates the exercise shooting Charles Grey and putting the lives of many Germans at risk.

The team as always get to the bottom of it and save the day. The way its done is masterful. You hardly have time to think about things as the events prove engrossing and keep you hooked.

The subplot just proved unnecessary here. Sometimes I wonder why the wives aspect is introduced, but its well done and Kim's dilemma is not as bad as some of the other wives plotlines.

Fast-paces, action packed, full of conflict and suspect this episode succeeds on so many levels.

    Definitely watch this!moreless
  • great episode

The unit goes to europe to participate in an annual secret international commando competition known as the CT Games. Every member commando group of the world unites once a year to show off their CT skills and fight one another in a game that's not known to the public. The games take a realistic turn when someone fires real bullets at the unit and a terrorist attack might be happening for real. Kim flies to Utah to find sponsorship for her radio station. She meets a boyfriend from high school who is now a software billionaire. It's a really interesting episode, the CT games start out just like a game of tag and when the threat of a real terrorist attack happens, it becomes really exciting.moreless
  • Special Forces "Olympics"

    8.2
Again a great show and I love Dennis Haysbert and when Col Tom Ryan ever retires, his Jonas character should take his place. Anyway, the unit goes and paritcipates in some kind of Olympics event with other Armed Forces Special Forces from around the world. Meanwhile Kim to goes to Utah behind Bob's back and gets reacquainted with an old boyfriend. As she remembers good times about being with him.
  • Another superb episode.

    9.5
Again we have another episode where all the Unit members are together on a mission, last season I got a little peeved that one week after another we’d only have 3 maybe 4 team members together and that the other 1 or 2 would stay at the base, so it’s nice to see that 95% of this seasons episodes have had the whole team together on missions.

This week we had Jonas and the boys taking part in a competition pitting them against other Special Forces teams from around the world, after some prelim rounds we get to the main part of the comp where one team becomes terrorists and the other teams have to track them down and stop them completing there mission, naturally Jonas and the crew are the terrorists however it becomes clear that not all are on the same side and turns nasty when a real terrorist threat becomes apparent.

Naturally we have the home front story running along side the main mission story and we find Kim meeting an ex-boyfriend whilst travelling, she spends sometime getting to know him and though we know she’d never leave Bob she doe’s question why she and her ex never got together.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • The S-Bahn and U-Bahn (subway) net plan shown in this episode actually shows the Hamburg routes but the colors don't match the actual lines.

    • The CT Games are based on the real-life SWAT World Challenge, which is being held annually since 2004. Just like in this episode, the German GSG9 has won the competition two years in a row (2005 & 2006), making it the highest ranked team.

    • We find out in this episode that Kim's maiden name was Harrington. We also learn how she met Bob, he helped to fix her radiator.

    • Goof: While it appears they put a lot of effort into making 'Hamburg' look like the real German city some mistakes were made. One of the most obvious is that all cars in 'Hamburg' have French license plates. Also the color of the taxis are wrong. All German Taxis are a distinct ivory color.

    • Goof: In the scene, when the last task is explained to the Special Forces Units, you see the sign of the GSG9 (the German unit) and you can read 'Bundesgrenzschutz GSG-9 Sondereinheit' (Federal Border Protection GSG-9 Special unit).
But in July 2005 the Bundesgrenzschutz was renamed into "Bundespolizei' (German Federal Police).
Also the coat of arms showing the "Bundesadler" (the eagle with the spread wings) is all wrong. The most noticable is that it has two heads, which the German eagle never had.

    • Goofs: (some of them obviously intentional)
      - the two headed eagle is not part of the GSG9 emblem, also the font is wrong.
      - the transportation company of Hamburg is called HVV, not VVH.
      - fake add in the subway: Rathausmarkt is misspelled as "Rathhausmarkt"
      - US subways (Red Line subway, LA) are used with an attached "U"-subway sign (like it is generally used in Germany for subway)
      - several misspellings (like fotos instead of Fotos) and bad phrasing ("Glas brechen" (break glass) instead of "Scheibe einschlagen" (which also means "break glass" but is the correct form used on signs)) in signs
      - "next stop" announcements in the subway: stations do exist, but neither in the announced order nor on the same route
      - they used (too much) cars with license plates from all over the world like France & UK (front license plate white and rear license plate yellow with black writing), Germany (front and rear license plate are white with black writing), US (missing front license plate
      - forbidden in Germany), some cabs had foreign license plates

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Charles: What about the final event?
Jonas: Forget it. This ain't a game anymore.

    • Mack: Target vehicle approaching.
      Charles: Target sighted, yellow, yellow.
(Crash of door flying open and rounds of automatic gun fire sound from the German special forces team – silence)
      Mack: Okay.
(Lights on – Another burst of machine gun fire from a German team member)
Mack: Whoa!! Whoa!! The play is dead.
Charles: I don't know how you found us within the rules of the game, but that, my friend, that was a personal foul.
Rudi (German Team Member): I call it two kills.
