This one is a bit of a change of pace as the lead villain is not a gangster wearing a pin-striped suit and a fedora but a corporate executive who makes a dirty deal with the Mob. Steven Hill gives a masterful performance as Joey December, a desperate railroad tycoon who makes a deal with the Mob to save his company from bankruptcy and then finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into a quagmire of corruption.

Note: We see the living quarters of Eliot Ness in this episode. It's a bachelor apartment. But since the episode begins in the latter part of 1929 there really isn't an inconsistency here. Ness probably hadn't gotten married yet.moreless
