The gimmick of Ness allowing a suspect to escape in this episode in order to crack a case is a repeat of what he did in Season One's Doreen Maney Story.
The team of Dr. Victor Garr & Dr. Daniel E. Gifford had previously worked together in episode # 94 Bird in the Hand.
Garr: (to Gifford) What are you doing? The roof's falling in on these people.
Ness: (about the stolen hair tonic) Doesn't sound like anybody'd wanna drink it.
Contine: Not unless they have a cast-iron stomach.
Ness: If you'd put up a fight, we'd be looking at you in the morgue right now.
Froelich: You two had some sort of trouble in Wichita?
Garr: Just some sort of intramural collision.
Garr: (about the stolen hair tonic) Maybe we better start looking for 23,000 hospital beds.
Iggy: You contact the Feds?
Contine: Yeah, they're very worried about my health.
Mrs. Spencer: When I was your age I could go and go and go.
Mrs. Spencer: Why are you making such a big deal out of it for?
Garr: Mrs. Spencer, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to be quiet.
Garr: Do you work, Mrs. Spencer?
Mrs. Spencer: Not at the moment.
Garr: Then why don't you take her place at the steam table?
Gifford: You didn't tell me the truth.
Mary Kay: Well, I told you all I'm going to.
Hobson: The longer you work in this business, the madder you get. Don't use it all up at once. There's a lot more of these cockroaches.
Mary Kay: What do they serve at this restaurant?
Gifford: How would you like your pheasant?
Mary Kay: Medium-well, please.
Froehlich: (about the map with pins showing cases of Ginger Jake poisoning) If this keeps up we'll run out of pins.
Garr: What did you do--take perfume to the girl?
Gifford: Do you know a better way to apologize?
Ness: Dr. Garr, meet Nicholas Contine. He makes poison for a living.
Dr. Garr: Dan, you better grab half a dozen bottles of this stuff, we'll need it for quantitative analysis.
Dr. Gifford: Statistics, Dr. Garr?
Dr. Garr: Statistics, Dr. Gifford.
Dr. Garr: I'm trying to teach him to be a doctor, instead of a statistician... somebody's got to shake him out of his textbooks.
Dr. Froelich: Maybe you are a little too much doctor, and he is little too much scientist. Maybe you two should sort of meet in the middle.
This episode operates as a companion piece of sorts to Season Two's Jamaica Ginger Story in that both describe the battle against the distribution of rotgut Jamaica Ginger alcohol.
