Stranglehold isn't one of Season Two's stronger entries. It's almost but not quite a waste of time. Ricardo Montalban makes one of the least effective villains of the series and why in the world was Robert Wilke brought into replace Lawrence Dobkin as Dutch Schultz? That's like getting Murray Hamilton instead of Bruce Gordon to portray Frank Nitti. It just won't work.

There are a few plusses in Stranglehold though and they keep the episode from being a complete disaster. Phillip Pine and Kevin Hagen give good performances as Montalban's two henchmen and Oscar Beregi puts in his second appearance of the series as Joe Kulak. He's always welcome.moreless
