It's my belief that Matt Bass Scheme was originally filmed in Season Two but got shelved and didn't air until the following season. Some of the reasons: Pete Konitz and Captain Dorset both appear. Each was a recurring character in Season Two but this episode marks their only appearance in Season Three. Also, this is the only Season Three episode which David Z. Goodman would write whereas he wrote several Season Two entries. Regardless of when Matt Bass was filmed it's an entertaining and enjoyable entry in the series even though I do think it's ranked a bit too high in the TV Tome rankings. Telly Savalas gives his best performance in three appearances on the show and Bruce Gordon is as nasty as ever as Frank Nitti.
