Konitz: Matt Bass is here to see you, Frank.
Nitti: Matt Bass! What'd he do...bust outta the pen?

Bass: (to Fiddler) I never kid with a guy just outta stir.

Otis: What's a graduate engineer doing in the pen?
Fiddler: When you work for the city of Chicago and take graft from construction companies, it's easy.

Bass: (about the four dead bodies) They're all here.
Ness: I'm here too, Bass.

Nitti: (to Seth Otis) I don't wanna go into the club business! I don't wanna have to start worryin' about meat and potatoes. But if you keep crossin' me, I'm gonna go into the club business! I'm gonna start worryin' about meat and potatoes!

Bass: I quit askin' questions when I was four.

Nitti: (to Bass and Fiddler after no beer emerges from the faucets) What is this...some kind of gag? I'll give you five minutes. If there's no booze coming out of those holes Pete's gonna put holes in both of you!
