Mad Dog Coll Story is an episode that underachieves a little despite a pretty good script. I honestly don't know what to make of Clu Gulager's performance as lead villain Coll. It's kind of like Stanley Kowalski on a bad acid trip. I know some Untouchables viewers like it and consider Gulager/Coll one of the better Untouchables villains but he's not memorable in my eyes. Lawrence Dobkin also made the first of three appearances as Dutch Schultz. Dobkin gives a good performance here but his screen time is unfortunately limited. Suzanne Storrs also does a nice job as socialite Diana Carten whose prize racehorse is kidnapped by the unbalanced Coll. There's also some pretty good moments of suspense. Not a bad episode overall but you could tell that the show was still getting its feet wet as to what would work and what wouldn't.moreless
