The US of Archie

Show Summary

This one-year show was one of the innumerable formats of the "Archie Gang" cartoons ("Archie's TV Funhouse," "Archie's TV Funnies," "Sabrina the Teen Age Witch" and its spinoff "The Groovy Ghoulies") in the early 70's. This one capitalized on the Bicentennial fever leading up to 1976. The premise was historical events as witnessed by the "ancestors of the Archie gang." The stories provided some interesting historical lessons.

"US of Archie" came out in the fall of 1974 and it was terrible. the show deal with events of the past 200 as seen by the Archie Gang. They all go back in time to see events happen. It's like "You Are there" except with the Archie Gang, you don't want to be there. I saw several epiosdes that are terrible. the following year, the show was moved to Sunday and it didn't even played on July 4th, 1976. A bad way to learn about American History than though stupid shows like "The US of Archie." Kids deserved better. Much better!moreless
