I swear. How can anyone not love this show? It's insanely awesome and intense! and not som dumb love triangle which it looked like it was gonna be when it first premiered. In this episode, Stefan gets a visit from a really old friend, Lexi, a fellow vampire. Elena feels threatened when she thinks they are an 'item' and feels weird when she sees Lexi's reaction to her. Lexi asks Stefan whats the deal with her and why does she looks so much like Katharine. It's Stefan's 162nd birthday and they are throwing a birthday party for him, but no one knows its for his birthday. Caroline tries to get Damon's medallion back from Bonnie, who reveals to Elena shes a witch.

Great Episode. I like where these storylines are going and I think the witch storyline is great!moreless

  • News flash: Stefan smiles!

I liked the opening scene at the police station with Elena and everyone covering for Vicki's disappearance. Damon's affects on Jeremy seemed to have worked well, perhaps even too well- now the kid is actually doing homework and behaving. This is a bad thing why? Elena was concerned, but Damon said he took ALL of Jeremy's suffering away. We'll see if there are any consequences from this (like not remembering his parents) or if this is all for the better.

An old friend of Stefan's pops up in town- Lexi, a fellow vampire. I admit, I didn't like her opening scene where she tries to "scare" him, as the show plays like Stefan in in danger from an attack. In context, it doesn't really make sense, and the effects looked Smallville-cheap. I didn't think I'd like this Lexi character at all, (seemed like a slutty b*tch) but she ended up being a welcome addition to the Salvatore house. She seemed cool enough, and might even be stronger than Damon. The show did a good job of playing against expectations with her. It was also great to see Stefan being happy for a change! While Elena is trying to distance herself from Stefan, Bonnie comes at her with yet another huge secret. In one of the nicer scenes I've seen on this show, Bonnie goes all "The Craft" on Elena's pillows, and we get a beautiful shot of the young witch using her mind/powers to lift all the feathers and swirl them around her best friend.

Damon continues his own investigation of the council, which, in all honesty, is for the better good of any vampire in Mystic Falls right now- as suspicion grows. He wants Bonnie's medallion back, though, and hypnotizes Caroline to get it- as well as talks her into throwing a "non-birthday" party for Stefan. That's right, his 162nd! I was amused at Elena's jealousy of Lexi at first impression, but I was also impressed by their heart-to-heart about Stefan at the party (there's a party of fundraiser, or pep rally every week), and was glad to see them bond. The best part of the episiode comes in its final moments. Damon randomly attacked a couple outside, and the surviving girl pointed him out to the police. But from a distance, they assumed she was talking about Lexi, a new face in the small town. Well, they were half-right! Lexi turns, and Damon, to my shock, stakes her right in front of everyone! It's clear he's winning favor with the council and keeping them off his scent, but I was sorry to see Lexi go. She was fun. A well executed scene.

Stefan in a rage, nearly kills Damon, and in a form of payback for being rescued by him earlier, spares his life. I'm very conflicted with Damon. I think he's easily the best character on the show, and am always impressed with his sharp wit, and overall 'bad boy' image. But they make no bones about him being heartless (like the scenes tonight where he was ruthlessly mean to Caroline). There would be no show if he was killed, so I don't get worried when it looks like he might be. But it would make sense to just kill him and make life better for everyone. The way he manages to hang around is the one contrivance I hope The Vampire Diaries can continue to cleverly write around.moreless

It's Stefan's 162nd birthday and a friendly vamp from the old neighborhood comes to pay him a visit. Her name is Lexi and she's at least 350 years old.

Now to the point. The moment I saw her pinning Damon down and bragging about being older and stronger, I knew at that moment, that she was a gonner. There can't be nobody who is able to bash Damon to oblivion. Neither will either Damon or Stefan get killled, ever. Period. If so, the show is over.
Everyone else can go. The blonde girl is just used for kicks, Elena is the love interest of the main character. Her little brother is as useless as the other guy, Vicky's brother.

The witch, I think it's a great storyline and I suppose she's still in development. But I wonder if she'll be almighty given time.. kinda like Willow in Buddy. Started small, sometimes even comical but ended up being one of the powerhouses of the show.

I know I've been criticizing the show for a long time. It's just that it seems to much to allow Damon to kill so many people like that, whithout any consequences, especially from his brother, who apparently allows and tolerate everything he does.

    Anyways, let's keep watching ok.

    Cheers!moreless

A little disappointed in the direction this show has taken in the last few episodes. Stefan is like one of those characters that wants to save the world but if he needs to make an omelet to do it he isn't willing to break any eggs to make the omelet. His brother pulls what may be the ultimate back stab of one of Damon's best friends for over 100 years and all he does is nothing. Literally nothing. He's coming off looking very poorly. Don't tell me stabbing Damon with a stake is doing anything. That was an emotional reaction and didn't really hurt Damon at all. He should have killed him. I'm not sure what to make of Stefan's reaction. Maybe no one else really matters to him except Elena. One thing is for sure. You don't want to be a female vampire in Mystic Falls. There should be a sign on the outskirts of town with that motto. No Female Vampires Allowed!

It was unfortunate that the final scene sort of did in the rest of the show which was perfectly fine. We have the Bonnie situation moving forward, Caroline still alive, Jeremy happier but he's actually doing homework etc. which is weird in itself, Matt is still upset about Vicki leaving as far as he knows. Finally we have Elena. Who knows what's suppose to be going on with her. She doesn't want to have anything to do with Stefan, but she keeps showing up where ever he is and is just getting in the way in general. First the house with Lexi and then the party at the bar.

Overall it is a very strange time in Mystic Falls and we will see where this all takes us. This is getting too much like a soap opera for me like it was after just a few episodes originally. Thanks for reading...moreless
