  • That was a joke, right?

So, the wacky vikings from west Virgina are non-other than Elijah and Klaus, WAY older than any self respecting viking would keep himself without a wife and a child.

Not only they still have those perfect british accents - several years before saxons and normans would actually conquer the new world - but they're also the "werepire" and the "Original" sons of a cannibal father who, wait for it, "eats" vampires! At least, according to the newly introduced sibling Rebekah.

If it weren't because I already know the brothers would go back to Bulgaria by the time Katerina is turned, I'd probably never stop ranting about how ridiculous the whole thing is.moreless
  • Fantastic! [Spoilers!]

I for one loved this episode! I was dying to hear some of the back story for the originals for quite some time and this was just the ticket to quench that.

I'm becoming a huge fan of Rebekah and honestly none of the story she told made me hate Klaus. So, he killed the original witch - his mother. And? I already assumed that much. Clearly, we have not yet heard the whole story so I'm going to reserve my judgement for a little while longer.

Stefan and Damon hit the bars for some bonding.. I'm starting to like Stefan for once! Damon is getting just a tiny bit cheesy but I doubt he'll ever be as lame and fake-sincere as Stefan used to be; therefore, unlike many other fair weather fans, I'm not concerned about that.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Goof: In the last scene of the episode where Damon and Elena are in bed, after Elena says 'There's nothing more important than the bond of family', Damon moves to his side with his hands under his head. But when Elena turns off the light and the camera angle changes, Damon is on his back with his arms above his head.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Stefan: Damon, you are worse than Elena. Getting me drunk, brotherly bonding. What, you think I'll break down and you can pull me back from the edge, is that it?
Damon: I happen to like the edge, Stefan. Your problem is your inability to resist falling over it. You're all or nothing, man. You can't Although, who am I to judge?

    • Elena: You know, when all is said and done, there's nothing more important than the bond of family.
Damon: You should tell that to my brother.
Elena: I'm not mad at you for letting him out, Damon. I think that you're gonna be the one to save him from himself. It won't be because he loves me. It'll be because he loves you.

    • Stefan: Why are you here?
Damon: What are you talking about? It's family day at vampire rehab. Just paying a visit to my baby brother.

    • Stefan: I'll give you ten points for flair. At least now we know where Klaus and Elijah learned their tricks from.
Damon: I don't think you had to wait until the last second to have your breakthrough.
      Stefan: I didn't have a breakthrough, Damon.

    • Mikael: (while gripping Damon's heart) What's the trick question, Stefan? One twist and he's dead. Unless you don't care, of course.
Damon: Well, his emotions have been shut off. He can't care.
Mikael: Really? His link to Klaus is so strong that he will let his own brother die? No ideas hmm? Think, Stefan! I guess you're right. He's a dead end.

    • Elena: (showing Rebekah the cave drawings) The hybrid killed the original witch. Not Mikael, Klaus.
      Rebekah: No. No, he wouldn't.
Elena: She put the curse on him. Made it so that he would be the only one of his kind, and then she rejected him. With the werewolf gene comes aggression and violence. When he turned, all of that was heightened. He killed her Rebekah, and then he made up this entire lie about your father so that he wouldn't lose you.
