Loved the revival of the Diary angle from the first season. Saw the Jeremy fate coming but didn't quite expect such a bad ass Elena. Props to Dobrev for making Elena mean in her own way instead of a Katherine knock-off. This episode lacked the depth and intensity of last week's emotional high but that wasn't so bad, can't have that intensity every week, we'd all get burned out. However, it just didn't have the same feel to it. It felt rather shallow and pushed, it didn't feel fluent. Though in the development side, we saw the cracks get bigger and spread in Stelena. Damon showed his continued unwavering devotion to Elena which reinforced itself and the human fellas showed they still had a backbone when they gave a TVD character immunity to compulsion without informing the local vampire squad. Of course after the brotherly chat at the end, the debate will rage, Elena, stay vampire or change back to human? (Like in the books) But (and it's a huge but) the bigger question is, was Elena's vampirism the final nail the Stelena coffin? Boy wonder doesn't seem to be interested in having a vampire lover i.e. his dumping of Katrina and the lack of interest in Lexi... So is his seeking the cure truly just for Elena's sake or really is it about his own desires? Damon asks a really good question, perhaps because his observant character has noticed the same cracks as half the viewing audience. You have to figure their demise is coming soon, with the trust nearly absent in the relationship, the lies that keep piling up, the lack of communication and reliance on other characters rather than each other are all spelling out their end. In real life that destroys couples, rarely do any survive, so I expect to see Stelena sink it's just a question of how long... How many more episode will we see (like last week's and tonight's) of them expanding the divide before the relationship just dies?
