Goof: When Stefan and Rebekah are sitting by the fire with the tombstone on the first night on he island, Rebekah hears a noise and grips Stefan's arm. She slowly releases her grip, but when the camera angle changes, she is holding his arm tightly again.

Elena was the fifth main character to get infected with werewolf venom, after Damon, Katherine, Stefan and Caroline. They were all healed by Klaus. Rebekah also got poisoned but she needed no healing since she is an original.

During their argument on how Elena should feed, Stefan asks Damon to name one vampire that has never killed a human soon after they turned. Though Damon doesn't mention it, Vicki Donovan didn't kill a human after she turned in season 1.

In "The Return" (season 2 episode 1), Jeremy asks John Gilbert why the protection ring didn't save his father in the car accident that killed his parents, and John explains that their death wasn't caused by a supernatural event. In the flashback scene in this episode with Elena and her parents under water after the crash, it's clear that Grayson isn't wearing the protection ring at all.

Goof: Near the beginning of the episode, Elena and Damon are talking at the police station. During the conversation, Elena's ponytail alternates between being straight back and being on her shoulder as the camera angle changes.

Goof: In the scene after Damon turns Abby, Esther and Finn disappear from inside of the circle and Kol, Klaus, and Elijah are standing next to each other outside the circle. Immediately after the flames go out, Kol is in the middle of this circle, away from Elijah and Klaus.

Torrey DeVitto, who plays Dr. Meredith Fell, is married to Paul Wesley (Stefan) in real life.

Goof: In the last scene of the episode where Damon and Elena are in bed, after Elena says 'There's nothing more important than the bond of family', Damon moves to his side with his hands under his head. But when Elena turns off the light and the camera angle changes, Damon is on his back with his arms above his head.

At the end of the episode, Damon is wearing his ring on the middle finger of his left hand. In the previous seasons, he typically wore his ring on the ring finger of his left hand.

Goof: When Carol Lockwood first enters Sheriff Forbes' office, the band of her sling is straight, but when the camera angle changes, the band is twisted.

Goof: When Maddox attacks Katherine after she ends her phone call with Isobel, Katherine has Elena's necklace around her neck. However, when the camera angle changes after Katherine falls to the floor, the necklace is missing.

In the previous episode, the sign on the outside of the Gilbert's lake house is located to the right of the front door and is visible as Stefan is waiting for Elena to invite him inside. In this episode, when Elena falls out of the house after stabbing herself, the sign is on the left side of the door.

It is revealed in this episode that at the time Lexi and Stefan first met, Lexi was going by the name Alexia Branson.

The license plate on Stefan's car is Virginia plate V82-638.

Goof: When Elena is texting Tyler (thinking she's sending a message to Caroline), the message on her phone reads, "Headed to lakehouse w Stefan. U ok?" When Tyler looks at the message on the other end the message reads, "Headed to the lake house with Stefan. U ok?"

We learn that Caroline's house number is 2115.

Rose says that she is from St. Austel and that the city is located 30km south of London. In reality, St. Austel is actuality located more than 400km southwest of London.

Viewers can call (919) 399-2507, Isobel's cell phone number shown during the episode, and hear a recorded message from Stefan, Elena and Damon.

The text message that Alaric sends to Stefan lists Isobel's number as (919) 399-2507. The 919 area code is associated with the Raleigh, North Carolina area. This is the same phone number that Elena used to call Isobel in season 1, episode 15.

Goof: When Tyler turns back into a human and Caroline goes to help him, she picks up a lamp. When she kneels down next to him she puts the lamp on the floor and it rolls over. Then camera shots to Tyler's face and back to the whole picture and the lamp is sitting straight.
