Goof: When Stefan and Damon are cleaning up by the side of the lake, Damon's ring is on his left hand as he scrubs his hands, but the ring is missing as he puts his shirt on.

When Stefan pulls up to the school he tells Elena that he has to get his things, then goes the back of the car and opens the trunk. However when the car first appeared in "There Goes the Neighborhood" (episode 16), Matt and Stefan were looking at the engine in the back of the car, not the trunk.

This episode marks the first time that Stefan has tasted Elena's blood.

Amanda Detmer (Trudie Peterson) and Matt Davis (Alaric Stalzman) previously worked together in the show What About Brian.

When Damon comes out of the bathroom and starts getting ready for the bachelor auction, he's not wearing his lapis ring.

When Elena calls Isobel from the cell phone, Isobel's number is listed as (919) 399-2507. The 919 area code is associated with the Raleigh, North Carolina area.

Isobel's driver's license lists her address as 729 Oak Park Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Her date of birth is listed as October 17, 1975, and her height is 5'4''.

Episode Title: Fool Me Once

Damon says "fool me once, shame on you" to Elena when she asks him to trust her again. He doesn't finish the full saying, which continues "fool me twice, shame on me."

At the end of the episode, Anna says about Pearl, "I made a choice a long time ago that it would be Gilbert blood that brought her back to life." She then proceeds to use Elena's blood to bring Pearl back to life. However, since Elena was adopted, she doesn't have Gilbert blood; she's supposedly a Pierce. Later in the season, though, it is revealed that Elena does, in fact, have Gilbert blood, as John Gilbert is her true father.

Goof: Matt writes his address on his job application as 529 Harrison, Mystic Falls, VA 30306. In "Lost Girls" (season 1, episode 6), his sister Vicki's driver's license listed her address as 749 Birch Street, Mystic Falls, VA 20185. In reality, the 20185 zip code is in Virginia, but 30306 is an Atlanta, GA zip code.

Goof: When Damon rescues Elena from her car, she faints and he carries her in his arms. When Damon firsts picks her up, Elena grabs his back to support herself, but in the next shot when he is carrying her, Elena's arms are hanging freely.

Goof: When Damon is eating a burger at Bree's bar and talking to Elena about Katherine, his beer bottle alternates from his hand to sitting on the table as the camera angle changes.

The scenes at Bree's Bar were filmed at The Depot Bar & Grill. This is located at 4122 Emory Street NW in Covington, Georgia.

Goof: When Stefan is standing outside the police station, the police car he's standing by has the number 162 on it. However, after everyone comes out of the station, the car's number changes to 134.

In this episode, Stefan's birthday takes place after the Halloween episode, which means his birthday is in November. However, in the pilot episode Caroline said that Stefan was a Gemini, which means that his birthday would be in May or June.

When Stefan leaves the Police Station, the patrol car number is 162, which is Stefan's new age.

Goof: In the flashback scene where Katherine asks Damon and Stefan to take her to the Founder's Ball, Damon uses his left hand to remove his hat as he bows down. When the camera angle changes, Damon puts his hat back using his right hand.

When Damon and Vicki and partying in the Salvatore boarding house, Damon often paces through patches of sunlight yet does not burn or seem hurt despite the fact that he does not have his ring.

We learn that vampires can eat garlic and drink holy water, that crucifixes have no effect on them, and that they show their reflections.

Vicki's driver's license shows her address as 749 Birch Street, Mystic Falls, VA 20185. Her birthday is 8/20/1991, but the date the license was issued is shown as 8/20/2000, which would have been on her ninth birthday.
