  • Dr. Venture holds a day camp for boy adventurer's, hilarity ensues.

    9.9
I think this is my favorite episode so far this season. I enjoyed everything about it, from Dr. Venture breaking the fourth wall to Dean being a man for one, but barely (the tears were hilarious). The new character, he brings a lot of potential storyline, and it is always great when Hank has someone to idolize. I especially like the theory going around that Dermott is just the original Hank. The Johnny Quest references were also really funny, especially him trying to "save" Dean from the life of a boy adventurer. Triana openly flirting with Dean, also great.moreless
  • A pretty funny episode that was like a venture Bros. reunion. We get to see all of the familiar characters again.

    9.5
This was a solid one. As said above, it was cool that all of the previous characters were assembled for an extremely lame day camp. The brothers seem to be maturing a certain degree. Dean made a friend and was less naive than usual, and Hank grew a pair and beat the hell out of Dr. Venture/Brock's son. Brock would be my guess. That last cliffhanger at the end was a nice twist. I'm now a little more exited for the next episode. Sgt. Hatred's appearance added some laughs, but he has basically stepped into the old role of the Monarch. Episodes are starting to become pretty much the same, but there is still enough long term plot to make the show interesting. This is by no means pivotal, but it was another funny episode.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Brock is wearing his "Yeti" costume up until Sgt. Hatred starts taking photos. In the photos, you can see that Brock is in his normal clothes, but after the photos are taken, Brock is back in the Yeti costume.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Dr. Venture: Wowzie, some people just shouldn't breed. Those are some ugly kids.
Brock: Kids? You're kidding, right? They're achondroplastic dwarves.
Dr. Venture: And they're almost as good as you and I and they deserve this camp as much as any other kid here. Such a racist.
Brock: They're not really a race.
Dr. Venture: Will you listen to yourself, Hitler?

    • Dr. Mrs. The Monarch: I'm more worried that this makes my ass look chunky.
The Monarch: Come here, set on your king's ever-expanding throne.
Dr. Mrs. The Monarch: What is that?
The Monarch: No doubt a recruitment facility cleverly disguised as like, the gayest day camp ever.

    • Dr. Venture: Hank! Stop calling me "pop"! If these kids find out that their hero had sex, their heads will explode.

    • The Monarch: Now how do you do a screen capture. It's like Shift, Option… oh crap! I made a umlaut.

    • Dr. Orpheus: So anyone who does not immediately give you respect, you murder?
Brock: No, no. well… I mean, I don't always kill them or anything. Just like a bruise or two as a little reminder.

    • Billy Quizboy: Don't move, they can smell fear!
Dr. Venture: Can they smell urine?
Billy Quizboy: It's like liquid fear.

    • The Monarch: I can't even watch. This is worse than seeing you with another man!
Dr. Mrs. The Monarch: Hey, that was not my idea.
The Monarch: I thought it would turn me on. But it was just double the embarrassment.

  • NOTES (2)

    • For the next few episodes, the series omits the previously standard opening credits and features a brief teaser, then "The Venture Brothers" title and splattering blood.

    • Although Chris McCulloch has a line as Pete White, unusually he isn't credited for the character in the credits.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Sea Captain: And sometimes you get to hang out with famous people, like Cher, and the guy who did the voice for Inspector Gadget.
As the Sea Captain is teaching the children about being low-level "rubber mask" super villains like the kind on Scooby Doo, he mentions getting to hang out with famous people. This a reference to the fact that many famous actors and actresses guest-starred on Scooby Doo, portraying themselves.

    • Dr. Z:
Dr. Z is Dr. Zin, the ongoing nemesis of Jonny Quest (aka Action Jonny) from Jonny Quest and its sequels. He created the robot spider (in "The Robot Spy:"), which is seen in the opening credits, and was originally voiced by Vic Perrin.
