  • Seth Green

    Himself

    9.3
Seth was born to Herbert, a mathematics teacher, and Barbara, an artist in Philadelphia, PA. The couple already had a daughter, Kaela also an actress. Seth and Kaela were raised in Overbrook Park, PA. It is said that a photograph of him being born was used in an ad campaign for natural childbirth, but Seth's mother has denied this rumor. Seth attended public school and played soccer. He decided to make acting his career at age six when he took part in a workshop in his hometown and after appearing in a summer camp performance of "Hello, Dolly!" Seth actually got his start in commercials as a child including a John Denver Album, Fruit Loops, Carl's Jr., Rally's (the origination of the catchphrase "Cha-Ching!" which still follows Seth around to this day), Wendy's, Jello Pudding Pops, Kodak, Hewlett Packard Printer, California Department of Health Services on Smoking and most recently the US Sci-Fi Channel. One of his commercials was with Sarah Michelle Gellar, when she was four years old.

He went on to appear in such illustrious telly as The X-Files, The Wonder Years, Beverly Hills 90210, Evening Shade, seaQuest DSV (as Wolfman, maybe a sign of things to come?) before his extended exposure on Buffy, the Vampire Slayer as Oz.

He has appeared in many movies including: Hotel New Hampshire, Radio Days (as a young Woody Allen), My Stepmother Is An Alien (as Alyson Hannigan's boyfriend, another omen?), Pump Up The Volume (with Juliet Landau also of Buffy fame), the 1992 movie version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (his scenes were cut), Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery, Stonebrook, Idle Hands, Enemy Of The State, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Can't Hardly Wait.

Interestingly, Seth had a part in the movie version of Buffy - unfortunately, his part ended up on the cutting room floor, though a still photo of him (as a vampire) is on the back of the box of the US video release.

He graduated from Lamberton High School in 1991.

Though Seth has a very large list of credits, he didn't gain notoriety until Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Austin Powers came along.

Now he has less anonymity and a lot of fans to attest to it, from two distinctly separate groups eleven to seventeen-year-old girls and drug-dealers.

While his involvement with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie only goes back as far as the cutting room floor of 1992 he is apparently on the cover of the US video release.

In 1997 his return to the realm of Buffy came, it was not as grand as it would become: his contract was only for three episodes in Season Two (namely 'Inca Mummy Girl', 'Halloween' and 'What's My Line, Part One') as Oz, the first person to show an interest in Willow [Alyson Hannigan], but fairly early on it became apparent to Buffy creator Joss Whedon that Seth and Alyson got on well enough to make more of Oz and so he increased Oz's relevance to the story of 'What's My Line' and put him in Part Two (taking a bullet for Willow). Whedon wanted to give the characters besides Buffy [Sarah Michelle Gellar] more of a private life and Willow's love life had really only been explored with Xander [Nicholas Brendon]. Whedon wanted the audience to hate Oz for driving Willow and Xander apart and then love him. He wrote Oz into the big two part story of season two: 'Surprise' and 'Innocence' and gave him a scene with Willow where he tells her how he feels about her and it worked, Oz fans appeared all over. Oz was officially admitted into the Scooby Gang when he saw Buffy slay a vampire at The Bronze, helped steal a rocket launcher from the army and pick up immolated parts of a dead invincible demon. Not bad for a day's work.

Joss Whedon gave a copy of the next episode's script to Seth as a way to convince him to become a regular for the next season. It worked and Oz became the werewolf in 'Phases'. In 'Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered' he searched for Buffy after Amy [Elizabeth Anne Allen] turned her into a rat. In 'Passion' someone had to die and it was going to be Oz, but his signing up for the third season fortunately scuppered that and the unlucky honour fell to Jenny Calendar [Robia La Morte]. After his rodent recovery duties in 'Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered' he next appeared in the both parts of the two part Season Two finale 'Becoming, Part Two'. In the latter part of that Willow is in a coma and Xander, sitting at her bedside tells her he loves her, she wakes up and the first thing she says is "Oz?".

He made Entertainment Weekly's '1998 It List,' the magazine's annual pick of the hottest stars.

Oz naturally returned in Season Three in 'Anne' with a promotion to series regular and as part of the Buffy-absent slaying. In 'Dead Man's Party' and 'Faith, Hope & Trick' he is an integral part of the Scooby Gang. The next episode 'Beauty And The Beasts' starts as an Oz feature episode, but becomes a reminder of who Angel [David Boreanaz] is. For the remainder of the season Oz fulfils two roles: Willow's boyfriend and 'boy-in-a-band'. This is primarily due to the sheer amount of screen time devoted to new slayer Faith [Eliza Dushku]. That said he is still great in every scene in which he appears, highlights include 'Band Candy', 'Lover's Walk', 'The Wish', 'Amends', 'The Zeppo', 'Dopplegangland', 'Choices' and 'Earshot'. He becomes increasing under-utilized as the season progresses until 'Graduation Day, Part One and Two' where he has some of his best scenes all year.

Having decided to leave Buffy for a further career in movies Seth handed in his noticed and agreed to appear in the beginning of Season Four. In 'The Freshman' the gang (minus Angel and Cordelia [Charisma Carpenter], who have left for LA and their' own show: Angel) relocate to UC Sunnydale. In 'Living Conditions' Oz spots Veruca [Paige Moss] on campus and is strangely attracted to her (all in a split second). 'The Harsh Light of Day' and it's Angel crossover 'In The Dark' gave Oz double duties as he took the Gem of Amarra retrieved from Spike [James Marsters] and gave it to Angel and then helped Cordelia & Doyle [Glenn Quinn] save the day. In 'Fear, Itself' the gang get to feel the worst fears coming true two of which: Oz losing control of the wolf within and Willow losing Oz would come true two episodes later. Oz is almost infatuated with Veruca all through 'Beer Bad' and discovers that she is a werewolf like him in 'Wild At Heart' and they attack Prof. Walsh [Lindsay Crouse]have sex in wolf form. Realising he has no control over his wolf side he flees Sunnydale and Willow.

When he left to make the thriller 'Knockaround Guys' (with John Malkovich and Barry Pepper) it was not known if he was going to return. It was expected that he would and in a regular role, those with expectations were half right: he did return in 'New Moon Rising' but only as a guest star. Oz claims to have found a cure for his condition and doesn't change on the night of a full moon and he and Willow seem likely to be back together until Willow tells Buffy that she and Tara [Amber Benson] are involved. Oz meets Tara and is enraged and transforms into wolf form warning her to "Run". He is caught by The Initiative and almost killed by Riley [Marc Blucas] because he mistakenly thought Oz was the demon that attacked co - soldier Graham [Bailey Chase]. When Riley realises that it is Oz he attempts to help him escape risking a court martial at the hands of Col. McNamara [Conor O'Farrell] and held in the brig. Willow, Buffy, Xander and Spike attempt to break both of them out with the help of Giles, Anya [Emma Caulfield] and albeit unwittingly Adam [George Hertzberg]. Oz suspects that it is Willow that brings out the wolf in him and leaves again, Willow professes her love to Tara.

He also appears in the season finale, 'Restless' in Willow's dream as a metaphor for her life with him being different to her life with Tara. Only time will tell whether he will return to Buffy or in fact Angel. The rumours say yes, but then they always do. Don't they?

As for the future, Seth is apparently not interested in directing, but he would like to produce, as well as keep acting. He and his best friends Breckin Meyer and Ryan Phillippe have an office where they peruse scripts, and they are aiming to produce films together.

Next on the horizon the dark comedy Scorned. The film, which is based on an idea from Seth and his childhood-friend-turned-screenwriter Hugh Sterbakov, centres on a young engaged couple whose romance takes an ugly turn when they head to college; the affair becomes a grudge match, and the pair's dorm turns into a war zone.moreless

    Herself

    6.1
Born in Orlando, Florida, Delta Burke is the eldest of three. She began modeling and participating in beauty contests at an early age, having won 18 pageant titles by the time she was 17. She represented Florida in the Miss America Pageant, winning a talent scholarship, which she used to attend a two-year study program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. In Hollywood, Delta won the co-starring role in the television movie Charleston, followed by starring roles in the miniseries The Seekers and The Chisholms and guest spots on numerous television movies and series. She landed the leading role in the series Filthy Rich and a starring role in HBO's first weekly series, First and Ten. Of course, she is best known for her five-year stint as Suzanne Sugarbaker in CBS's Designing Women -- for which she received two Emmy award nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. After leaving Designing Women, Delta produced and starred in the ABC television series Delta where she actually sang and dyed her dark hair blonde. She later reunited with Designing Women creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason to star in and produce Women of the House, a spin-off where she reprised her popular Suzanne Sugarbaker character. It took Delta extensive therapy and medication to deal with her severe depression and realize she liked herself better as a size 16 than as a "starved" size 6. The self-described "beautiful, curvy woman" is now on a mission to make other "real-size" women feel good about themselves with her line of plus-size clothing. She started designing fashions for herself during her very public weight gain on Designing Women. Fan letters helped her through that difficult time, making her want to give back. So the actress created her first size 14-26 collection several years ago, and now Delta Burke Designs is in several clothing chains and catalogs. Her autobiographical book, Delta Style: Eve Wasn't a Size 6 and Neither Am I, explains how she dealt with a lot of problems, including sexual abuse as a child and her very public battle with her weight. In addition to managing her successful New York design company, she continues to act and produce through her production company Perseverance, Inc. and is married to actor Gerald McRaney -- star of television hits Simon and Simon, Major Dad, and Promised Land. In 1999, Delta took on the recurring role of Cherry Cherry on the WB's Popular. A part written specifically for Delta, Cherry is a former Miss Texas 1974. In addition, she co-starred in the cult classic film Sordid Lives and landed the part of Mel Gibson's secretary in What Women Want. For the 2000-2001 TV season, she appeared with David Alan Grier in the series DAG, where she played the First Lady. Delta followed that up with a starring role in the Lifetime Original Movie, Dangerous Child. For 2003, The WB signed Delta as the lead in Sweet Potato Queens, a comedy based on the series of books by Mississippi writer Jill Conner Browne, however the Pilot was not picked up. Delta and Mac also starred together in the Lifetime Original Movie, Going Broke. Delta made her Broadway debut in 2003 as villainess Miss Mears in the musical comedy Thoroughly Modern Millie. Mrs. Meers is a corrupt former actress who dons Asian dragon-lady drag to sell orphan chorus girls to a white slavery ring. Delta continues to act and has been speaking candidly about her struggles with depression in order to help others deal with the disease.moreless

  • Jamie Lee Curtis

    Herself

    9.3
The daughter of film stars Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, Jamie Lee Curtis launched her film career as a "scream queen." After a nondescript supporting role on the TV seriesOperation Petticoat, Curtis rose to cult stardom playing the straightlaced teenage baby sitter imperiled by an unknown slasher in Halloween (1978). Upon appearing in the film's sequel and in such spookers as The Fog (1979) and Prom Night (1980), she seemed in danger of being limited to blood-splattered horror films. But Curtis wasn't about to be typed this early in the game: with a meaty secondary role as a prostitute -- featuring several well-publicized nude scenes -- in the big-budget comedy Trading Places (1983), she made the transition from imperiled teen type to knowing adult with nary a hitch.
Curtis didn't exactly have a string of box-office smashes after Trading Places, but she was always worth watching even when the films weren't. And when the good parts did come along, notably her roles in A Fish Called Wanda (1988) and My Girl (1991), she proved she was an actress of range and stature and not just another "movie star's kid." Taking a potentially humiliating role as the unknowing wife of a secret agent in the megabucks Schwarzenegger adventure True Lies (1994), Curtis delivered a sparkling performance, emerging as the only truly likable character in a very loud and extremely misogynistic melodrama. In 1997, she was reunited with the cast of A Fish Called Wanda (Kevin Kline, John Cleese, and Michael Palin) for Fierce Creatures, another comedy/farce in the same vein as Wanda. Unfortunately, the film was largely disappointing, but the following year, Curtis rebounded with a return to familiar territory in Halloween: H2O. The slasher flick, though less than a critical favorite, proved to be popular with audiences. In 1999, Curtis again ventured into the big-budget realm with the action thriller Virus, and had a supporting role in Daddy and Them, Billy Bob Thornton's sophomore writing/directorial effort. She could then be seen in Drowning Mona, a black comedy in which she played a waitress caught up in an affair with the husband of her town's most infamous dead woman.
Jamie is now returning in a 7th sequel to the 1979 hit Halloween and will also be reprising her role as Helen Tasker in True Lies 2. Both are out late 2002.

Married to actor Christopher Guest since 1984, Curtis became a Baroness, Lady Haden-Guest, when her husband inherited the Barony in 1996.moreless

  • Samuel L. Jackson

    Himself

    9.3
Samuel Leroy Jackson is an American actor. He has starred in many Hollywood movies. His performance in Jungle Fever was so acclaimed, the 1991 Cannes Film Festival created a Supporting Actor award just for him. Along with that award, he has won many others including a Silver Berlin Bear, A BAFTA Film Award, and two Independent Spirit Awards.

He is perhaps best known for his roles in the Spike Lee movies Do The Right Thing, Mo' Better Blues and Jungle Fever, the Quentin Tarantino movies Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, and as Jedi Mace Windu in the prequel Star Wars Trilogy. Thus, he is usually cast into roles that involve a cool, controlled, "in-the-know" black man. His roles most always involve a memorable line delivery; and Jackson's trademark voice inflection lend heavily to this key attribute.

He received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction.

His impressive film career has given him the title of highest box office grossing actor, just passing Harrison Ford.

  • Anne Heche

    Herself

    8.2
A waifish blonde, Anne Heche (pronounced 'haytch') was still relatively unknown when she made headlines in April 1997 disclosing her relationship with comedienne Ellen DeGeneres. Almost immediately, there was speculation and questions about whether the actress' decision to reveal her lesbianism would adversely affect her career, particularly as Heche had been cast as Harrison Ford's love interest in "Six Days/Seven Nights" (1998). Reportedly, the marketing campaign for the film was altered to play up the adventure aspect of the film instead of the romance. Heche, however, had already proven herself as an actress. The daughter of a Baptist minister who was a closet homosexual and succumbed to AIDS complications in 1983 (although Heche has hinted he committed suicide in interviews), the thin wide-eyed performer began her career as a singer and dancer in dinner theater. After her father's death, Heche did not perform for several years until graduating from high school. Within weeks, she had landed her first major role, that of good and evil twins, Vicky and Marly on the NBC soap opera "Another World". During her four year stint, Heche earned a Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Younger Actress in 1991 and engaged in a high profile romance with her co-star Richard Burgi. Feeling stifled, Heche decided to leave the show after four years and enroll at the Parsons School of Design. Instead, she landed a role alongside Jessica Lange in the CBS production "O Pioneers!" (1992) and decided to concentrate on an acting career. Film roles soon followed, including her debut as Mary Jane Wilks in "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" (1993). She gradually landed larger roles in "I'll Do Anything" (1994) and the TV-movies "Against the Wall" (HBO, 1994), as Kyle MacLachlan's wife, and "Kingfish: A Story of Huey Long" (TNT, 1995), as the politician's mistress. Heche landed the breakthrough role of a doctor friend of Demi Moore who falls victim to a hit man in "The Juror" (1996). She went to co-star with Catherine Keener in the indie "Walking and Talking' (also 1996) before landing the role of Johnny Depp's neglected wife in "Donnie Brasco" (1997). Later that year, Heche was teamed with Tommy Lee Jones in the disaster flick "Volcano" and won praise for her turn as a presidential advisor in Barry Levinson's political satire "Wag the Dog" (a role written for a man which Heche played with no changes to the dialogue). By the time of the latter's release, Heche and DeGeneres had taken their relationship public. While pundits fretted over what the disclosure might do to Heche's career, the actress pressed on landing co-starring roles with Harrison Ford in the romantic adventure "Six Days, Seven Nights" and Vince Vaughn in "Return to Paradise" (both 1998). She further solidified her rising star status by tackling the role of Marion Crane (again opposite Vaughn as Norman Bates) in a color remake of Hitchcock's classic "Psycho" (also 1998).

  • Kelly Ripa

    Herself

    8.2

After mastering marriage, motherhood and daytime television (as a star on All My Children), Kelly Maria Ripa stepped into a new role as co-host of Regis Philbin's popular morning show.

Ripa grew up dazzled by the lights of New York City. The oldest daughter of Joe, a labor union president and a bus driver, and Esther, a homemaker in New Jersey, Ripa and her younger sister, Linda, now a children's book author, began taking ballet and piano lessons at an early age. In her own words, Kelly also states that she is "no Barbara Streisand," but can carry a tune. The family visited Manhattan frequently to see live shows and explore the culture of the big city. The young girl dreamed of the day when she would live in - and make her mark on - the Big Apple. After graduating from high school, Ripa enrolled at Camden County community college. While attending college, she landed parts in local theater productions, including , H.M.S. Pinafore, The Wizard of Oz, and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. During the first week of school, Kelly auditioned for ABC's All My Children. Although she was competing against several other actresses with more experience, she won a role on the soap. In 1990, she moved to New York City to play teen wild child, Hayley Vaughan on the hit soap opera. Kelly is the first in her family to enter the acting profession. The television gig was a wonderful experience for Ripa, but it also set the stage for love. In 1996, the actress married her co-star Mark Consuelos; a year later, the couple had their first child, Michael.

While Ripa successfully navigated her career, marriage and motherhood, she couldn't have been prepared for the changes that would occur in the new millennium. After several appearances as a guest host on Philbin's morning show, Ripa was offered the co-host seat that had been vacated by Kathie Lee Gifford. When Ripa accepted the job on February 12, 2001, while she was five months pregnant with her second child, Lola. Ripa kept her job at All My Children and began her career as Philbin's sidekick.

In her first months on the Live with Regis and Kelly, she shared private information about her pregnancy and life with the show's large television audience. They adored her instantly. The program's ratings soared, and the job has catapulted Ripa into national superstardom. Viewers can relate to Ripa because she is a shining example of a contemporary working mother. She holds two jobs, maintains a great relationship with her husband, and is the mother of three young children when Ripa gave birth to her third child, Joaquin.
