  • Some like a cliche

I'll admit, I am a chick. I can enjoy a good romance, but this one is just too contrived to be enjoyable.

It would have been more believable for the Virginian to have been attracted to Mariette Hartley's character.

The same theme is repeated in a later season, only the protagonist in that episode is Trampas.

  • NOTES (5)

    • Though she would not reveal it till many years later, guest Mariette Hartley's father committed suicide when she was younger. In this episode, her character's father has committed suicide, which makes the scenes where she tells the Virginian about it very poignant.

    • Trampas does not appear in this episode.

    • Frank Sully played Danny the bartender, who appeared many times in the series.

    • Steve Hill (played by Gary Clarke) was a regular/star in the first two seasons of the series. This episode was one of three return appearances in season three (he is billed in the opening credits after James Drury, and before the Guest Stars, as simply "With Gary Clarke as Steve") after which his character is dropped entirely and never seen again with no explanation.

    • Trampas does not appear in this episode and Randy's appearances are very brief.
