      • Mrs. Crandall's Boarding house, featured in this episode, was also used in two earlier episodes: A Gallows for Sam Horn (Season 3 #12) and The Return of Golden Tom (Season 4, #25). In one the earlier episodes (4-25), despite its name, it was run by the Widow Hazard (played by Jean Inness). However, in this episode and #3-12 it is actually run by Mrs. Crandall (as played by Rita Lynn and Elizabeth Harrower respectively).

      • The regular character of Emmett Ryker (as played by Clu Gulager in seasons 3 and 4) was absent from episodes 1 to 15 of Season 5. He is returned to the opening credits as a series star with the 14th episode of Season 5 and makes his first episode appearance in this outing, the 16th of season 5. Although he had been promoted to Sheriff of Medicine Bow in an earlier episode (Episode 4, #2 entitled "The Laramie Road") on the murder of Sheriff Brannon (Harlan Wade), in this episode he is once again returned to the position of deputy to Sheriff Mark Abbott (Ross Elliott), a position he had taken over in the first episode of Season 3 entitled "Ryker" on Abbott's urging -- not Brannon's as stated in episode 4, #12. Confused? -- so were the writers!

      • Of the regulars, Trampas is the most featured player in this episode with support from the Virginian and Emmett Ryker. Elizabeth Grainger makes only a cameo appearance near the beginning of the episode. As a whole however, the main focus is on the Guest Stars and supporting cast members such as Paul Carr as Joe Stevens.
