The annual musical and vocal salute to Independence Day with Metropolitan Opera and concert stars Eugene Conley and Rose Bampton. Howard Barlow conducts the Orchestra and Chorus. Highlights: The Orchestra and chorus open with "The Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Philip Sousa. Eugene Conley performs "The Pledge to the Flag" arranged by Albert Hay Malotte The Chorus performs "America the Beautiful". The Orchestra performs "Bugler's Holiday" by Leroy Anderson. Eugene Conley and the Chorus perform "God Bless America". Eugene Conley and Rose Bampton perform "Home to Our Mountains" "Il Trovatore" by Verdi (English translation by George and Phyllis Mead).
