Why do walkers need to eat

    if walkers are dead they have no metabolisme and no need for nourishment. If they did, then normalregeneration of cells should occur, and they would not rot as they do.


    Also if a walker eats alotover a long period of time, would it get fat?

    Most zombie lore states they don't NEED to eat and get no nourishment, but the virus infecting their corpses instills an urge to bite to further spread the infection.

    They also wouldn't get "fat" but like the one that ate Lori showed, they'd gorge and get distended bellies due to their stomachs overstuffing and splitting (think the gluttony victim from "Se7en")

    I would say specifically to the lore of this program based on Shane's transformation. The ravenous animal instinct that takes over the victim causes them to want to feed and prey constantly.
