Two things. One, the zombies look too made up...a little too perfect. You can tell that they're just people wearing a ton of makeup. Two, computerized zombie kills. Did we really need a CG decapitation? That's just lazy film making. Digital blood splatter? Come on. It just makes the whole thing so cheesy.

If you want to see perfect zombie special effects, check out the Night of the Living Dead remake from 1990.

You're right, they should have had real zombies. I'm tired of these actor types in makeup thinking they could pull this stuff off.

Dude, the make up and effects in this show are some of the best on TV and rival much of what you see in major motion pictures.

I hope you made this topic as a joke...seriously. This is some really good make-up and a lot of extras to do it with. I still get creeped out when I think of that zombie with half a body that is something you should be irked about.

Bull pizzle. They should look realistic. They don't look like corpses. They look overproduced. I cited a perfect example of what they should look like. other movies/shows are able to pull it off, why can't they?

Before watching this show I've come to accept the fact that a show would have a substantially lower budget and flexibility than a movie would. I have a lot of problems with The Walking Dead but this is FAR from one of them.

That's no excuse. It would actually be cheaper to do things my way. What do you think would cost more, a complicated CG blood splatter or a squib? That CG decapitation at the end of the finale was laughable. I thought I was watching the Syfy channel for a second.

The zombies in TWD look almost identical to the ones you cited from NOTLD in your OP.

Bad makeup? Those zombies look disgusting. They are the best looking zombies I have seen! In the disgusting way When in some movies the zombies have looked more like a bad hooker after a rough night without washing her makeup off

I'm gonna have to say the makeup was quite good in this one. I've seen a lot other films (including B-grade films) that had really cheesy makeup.

As for the CGI, I didn't really notice it was that obvious so I'm gonna let it slide as well. Thumbs up!

I think they should have gone for something like Michael Jackson's triller

Or maybe if all the zombies were teenagers and one of them falls in love for a non-infected human and have them glow under the sun light...now that's a million dollars idea

I think the zombies look pretty dam good for a tv show.. I like the above post a teen zombie falling in love with a non infect human. Sounds interesting.

Be cool to see a talking zombie too..

right, ok.

Second is too much CGI kills?

That's the cheaper and faster way to do it nowadays. no second and third takes resetting the manual f/x to go again, one take and then just CGI it. they're running with limited time and budget. why would they take the longer more expensive route?

I meant I totally agree with the person that said they have a lot of problems with this show but make-up is not one of them, it's a tv show, movie budgets are far from scale of this shows

Yes the Zombies look great, yes it is quite well done but I couldn't even watch it to the end of the first ep of the second season. Having never watched it, ever, maybe I was wrong to jump in after the first season but the entire show irked me and I will not be watching it any more. I am not really a zombie fan anyway. Love Vampires and Werewolves though!
