You Lucky I was growing were "censors" and watchdog groups who counted the gunshots, the bullets, the fist fights on any ACTION TV show. The networks had blood on impact shots, no rape, no sodomy, no child abuse, no drug use depictions of needles,,,and of course NO PEOPLE BEING EATEN. This show BREAKS ALL THE RULES. While it;s true--the zombies move way too slow, and the characters keep specia leffects in this episode should win an EMMY. This is TV where NO TV has gone probably never will again, Enjoy it while you can-because soon enough someone will say the show is too violent, my child "Acted out" after watching tyhis show and BIT a fellow student. Watch-it will come. SO show gets a 10 for effects and an 8 for give it total 9.moreless
  • The camp falls.

    9.0
Yet again The Walking Dead impresses and this episode shows nowhere is safe The last few minutes make this episode as good as it was when the camp is attacked by the Walkers and there was only Shane to really defend it until Rick and the others got back The camp will never recover from this and they also have to worry about merle who is out there and I had a feeling from the beginning he will return.moreless

Equivalent exchange doesn't seem to work in this series. They lost what, two or three people? And gained probably 20 or 30? There are too many survivors already. I don't know who most of them are. I was glad when wife-abuser guy and Amy were taken out; they weren't worthwhile characters and/or were annoying. Decent drama, but no high stakes. The zombies are entirely too easy to take out, and everyone who holds a gun seems to have perfect accuracy. I'm not invested and I'm not impressed yet.moreless

I'm easily pleased. Seeing more survivors makes me happy. And running away from zombies also makes me happy.
  • The dead is full of surprises

    9.0
What this show does so well is the surprises when the dead appears out of no where. I would never expect the dead to show up, the writers keep us surprised when it comes to this and I'm grateful for that. Rick has a little trouble with another group that wants Rick guns, during that scuffle they took Glen and Rick took one of their men. Later on both of them appear to each other what they haven't suspected, and along the way to camp there is a problem brewing that leads to tragedy. This was a good episode overall and it kept me glued to the set as I watched.moreless

    • The Walker that bites and kills Amy is played by co-executive producer and special effects makeup designer Greg Nicotero.

    • This is the second AMC show to feature a Winnebago. The model that appears in this episode is from the late 1970s. AMC's Breaking Bad features a larger but later model, built in the 1980s. However, the use of the vehicle ended in the third season when it was crushed at a junkyard.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Daryl: You got some balls for a Chinaman.
      Glenn: I'm Korean.
      Daryl: Whatever.

    • Daryl Dixon: I guess the saw blade was to dull for the handcuffs. Ain't that a bi***.

    • Daryl: (about Merle) Toughest a****** I ever met, my brother. Feed him a hammer, he'd crap out nails.

    • Shane: Jim, nobody is gonna hurt you, okay?
Jim: That's a lie. That's the biggest lie there is. I told that to my wife and my two boys. I said it 100 times. It didn't matter. They came out of nowhere. There were dozens of them. Just pulled 'em out of my hands. You know, the only reason I got away was 'cause the dead were too busy eating my family.

    • Guillermo: (to Rick) I'm gonna chop up your boy. I'm gonna feed them to my dogs. They're the evilest, nastiest man-eating b*****s you ever saw. I picked them up from Satan at a yard sale.

    • Jim: I remember my dream now, why I dug the holes.
