The Walter Winchell File

Show Summary

Crime anthology series taken from the files of newspaper columnist Walter Winchell and the New York Daily Mirror newspaper. The show served as a precursor of sorts to The Untouchables as it was produced by Desilu Studios and featured stories with a crime theme in which Winchell served as narrator. It ran for 26 episodes in the 1957-58 season on ABC and then returned for 13 more in syndication the following year. Winchell himself narrated the tales, much like he would do two years later on The Untouchables, and even appeared in many of the episodes.
