I watched "The Homecoming" when it debuted in 1971, and watched it every year after that when it aired on CBS. It had a 2 1/2 hour time slot. I bought the movie on VHS years ago. My video is 98 minutes long and the IMDb says the movie is 100 minutes long.
Every time I watch the VHS (It hasn't aired on TV in decades) I wonder if something is missing. In the scene with the missionary lady, the children sing the first verse of "Away in a Manger" and then go to the third verse. But I swear I remember hearing the second verse at some point in the past.
I've also noticed that the Nativity scene re-enacted in Hawthorne's church "jumps" a little, as if something had been edited out.
Are there brief segments missing on the VHS?
