The Waltons

Season 9 Episode 24

Mother's Day on Walton's Mountain

Aired Thursday 8:00 PM May 09, 1982 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • When Paul suggests that Cindy might have twins, Erin replies that she doesn't think there are any twins in the Walton family.  Jim Bob is sitting right in front of her when she says this, yet says nothing in response, despite being one of a pair of twins himself (as revealed in The Secret).

    • Cindy gives birth to Charlie at the end of April 1947, having only found out she was pregnant in February of the same year, and having had no baby bump in the previous film.

    • Jonesy having bought his car at Harry's Used Cars in Deadeye Gulch, Nevada contradicts "The Whirlwind" (s9/e8) where he says he bought the car in San Francisco, California.

  • Quotes

    • Opening Narration: Every year, spring brought its special magic to Walton's Mountain. As the dogwood and redbud came into blossom, the very earth seemed to vibrate and burst into life. In the spring of 1947, no-one felt this more deeply than Mary Ellen. Our mother was still recuperating in an Arizona sanatorium, and as Mary Ellen's wedding day approached, her joy was only dimmed by our mother's absence. For it was at such times of celebration that we most keenly missed her.

    • Closing Narration: We would all spend other Mother's Days apart from her, but nothing has ever separated us from my mother's vibrant love, which continues to reach out to us across the miles and across the years.
