This isn't the most exciting storyline, but it's great to see Wade and Vera again, even if they are at loggerheads for most of the hour. There's no Martha Corinne this time, but she will be back for one last hurrah in 'The Pony Cart'.

The story is pretty straightforward: Vera turns up on the Waltons' doorstep complaining that Wade is being mean to her, and it is up to the Waltons to get them back together. The best moment by far comes when Wade is threatening to break down the barn door and John hurls him to the ground. Go John!

Alongside all this, Ben starts a business selling trees. Only problem is, he doesn't know s**t about trees and his goods die in transit. I thought this was a really good effort by Ben, and I was sad John and Zeb seemed to view it as a joke. Ben is by far the most enterprising of the brothers, and the lad could do with a bit of encouragement.

The episode doesn't quite line up in parts. For example, Wade and Vera keep talking about their new life in the city, yet their house seems to be on a dirt track in the woods. Also, the opening narration talks about folk from the past reappearing by surprise yet it turns out John-boy saw Wade just two weeks earlier.

Ep Bridges is back! Where have you been, mate? It's been two whole seasons since we last saw you. Welcome back to the mountain!

    • Opening Narration: Sometimes people's lives would become entwined with ours for a brief time, and then because of change or growth or the passage of time, their lives would take different paths and we would never see or hear of them again. But there were occasions when people we had known in the past would reappear. I remember one such occasion, and it took us completely by surprise.

    • Closing Narration: In time Wade earned enough through his wages at the mill to open his own woodcarving shop in the house he had long planned to build. Now that he was able to follow the work he loved most he became the husband and the father he had always planned to be on the day he and Vera were married.
