Another season, another cancelled engagement. Once again, it's Erin, and once again, she runs off in the middle of the night. When Olivia says she's getting sick of hearing about elopements, she's not the only one.

Despite the recycled story, it is good to see Ashley again. This time, he comes with a twist - if not a change of clothes. Since returning from the war, he has lost his faith in God, and when Erin raises the matter, he goes a little off the rails. We don't find out why until the end, and to be fair, it's a pretty decent reason. I thought Ashley looked rather cool once he stopped trying to impress Erin, and the stubble certainly suited him. His sending-up of Corabeth was hilarious. It's about time somebody pecked her for being so nosy.

This week's Annoying Burton Award goes to Serena. She follows Elizabeth around like a puppy then doesn't like it when Elizabeth tells her to take a hike. And what the heck was that thing with the rolled-up paper down her shirt? That's like a bloke stuffing socks down his pants. Stop it at once!

Whatever happened to Chad btw? Wasn't he building a cabin just up the road from the Waltons? I'd kind of grown to like him by the time he left. Perhaps he could build an annex for Ashley.

Pick of the bunch: Elizabeth Walton (Kami Cotler)

    Alternate title: The Ring
