A fun and slightly tense episode - in a lighthearted kind of way. After recent starring roles for Jim Bob and Olivia, this week sees Mary Ellen get into a spot of bother after 'borrowing' a ring she finds in a second-hand handbag.

It's good to see Mary Ellen do something other than sulk, and it's great to see her and John-boy dressed up and out on the town. The college dance is very enjoyable, and gives the characters a nice break from chores and dungarees. Good continuity to bring back Mike West from 'The First Day'. He's a lot less annoying this time round.

Martha Rose is good value this week. For once, Mary Ellen gets one up on her when it turns out the little sneak has no date and is at the dance with her brother. Also enjoyed seeing MR snitching to Olivia. Teehee!

Erin gets a strong supporting role, but the boys have a very quiet time. I did chuckle when they all snuck out of John-boy's room and left him talking to himself. It was fairly obvious the ring would get lost at some point, but I'm glad they found it again. That scene where John-boy's date gets busted climbing through the toilet window is a classic.

Pick of the bunch: Martha Rose Coverdale (Cindy Eilbacher)

    Alternate title: The Revel

    Score: 9.3
