The Weird Al Show

Show Summary

The Weird Al Show was a show that used to air Saturdays on CBS. The show included "Weird Al" Yankovic, The Hooded Avenger (Brian Haley), Madame Judy (Judy Tenuta), J.B. Toppersmith (Stan Freberg), and Al's pet, Harvey the Wonder Hamster. By FCC requirement, the show was educational, but it did have a lot of Al's very weird humor, and some guest stars and musical acts. Unfortunately, in January 1998, CBS cancelled all shows in the Saturday Morning lineup. The show was released on DVD on August 15, 2006.

Theme Song Lyrics Oh, this is a story 'bout a guy named Al, And he lived in a sewer with his hamster pal, But the sanitation workers really didn't approve, So he packed up his accordion and had to move To a city in Ohio where he lived in a tree, And he worked in a nasal decongestant factory, And he played on the company bowling team, And every single night he had a strange, recurring dream Where he was wearing lederhosen in a vat of sour cream, But that's really not important to the story.

Well, the very next year he met a dental hygienist With a spatula tattooed on her arm (on her arm), But he didn't keep in touch, then he lost her number, Then he got himself a job on a tater tot farm, And he spent his life savings on a split-level cave 20 miles below the surface of the Earth (of the Earth), And he really makes a mighty fine jelly bean and pickle sandwich For what it's worth.

Then one day Al was in the forest, trying to get a tan When he heard the tortured screaming of a funny little man. He was caught in a bear trap and Al set him free, And the guy that he rescued was grateful as can be, And it turns out he's a big-shot producer on TV, So he gave Al a contract, and what do you know? Now he's got his very own Weird Al Show!moreless

  • He should have, or should if they brough it back, treat it like his music.

    9.6
He could do a PG type of show, that is sort of geared towards kids, but has certain jokes, that kids wouldn't get, for the adults as well. He could also play some of his tunes as well in the show. If it works for his CD's and concerts why wouldn't it work for a TV show? He is a master at getting several different age groups to listen to him, and I'm sure those same people would also do that for the TV show. I really don't know what else he could do, I don't really remember too much about the show. I know the theme was funny, and I'm sure the content was too.moreless
  • Who cares if this is a children's show, Weird Al is awesome!

    9.4
I don't know why I didn't know anything about this show until it went off the air. I watched a few taped episodes with a friend of mine and I thought it was funny! It was clean, fun, weird, and it starred my favorite recording artist (besides They Might Be Giants). I mean, it's better than Pee Wee's playhouse in a lot of different ways. I heard that this show is now on DVD so I'll probably buy it because I like Weird Al. For those of you watching Pee Wee's playhouse on DVD, I recommend this show since it's way better.moreless
  • Please tell me this show is intended for children...

    2.0
...if it is not, it is easily one of the worst shows I\'ve ever seen. Weird Al jumps through it like a toon on a sugar rush, and the punch-lines can hardly amuse anyone over the age of eight. I admit I occasionally watch kid\'s TV, but I think I would feel more entertained and educated watching Sesame Street (or look out the window, for that matter) than this loud and colorful and alltogether mind-numbing mix of lame jokes, over-used punch lines and hysteric nothingness. Maybe I\'m completely missing the point here, but as much as I like Weird Al\'s spoofs of pop music and talent in general - I feel that through this show he might have lost a great deal of dignity, but certainly a great deal of my respect.moreless
  • I thought that I can only get on tilt when playing poker. This movie has the same effect...oddly.

I thought that I can only get on tilt when playing poker. This movie has the same effect...oddly. This is definitely a pleasant surprise. I will surely look forward to more of The Weird Al Show from now. It just shows you that on any given day, you can discover something refreshing and new. Lucky moi.
