Ultimately the funniest moment! I laughed for minutes...

When CJ and Leo were trying to hire a new Deputy CoS, and Cliff Calley asked for some White House M&Ms to give to his niece (or sth), and then Leo asked CJ for some too as he was hungry!

How 'bout Josh totalling a Prius with a truck-the-size-of-nobdy's-business? And then, of course, as a follow-up: Toby's reference to department of Metaphor in the press room later.

Here's another one with Toby in the press room, getting questions on Cuba (in "Ninety Miles Away"): Steve starts to ask a question about the fact that Cuba has taken the place of East Asia as the destination of choice for "pedophiles and sex tourists." Toby cuts him off, saying "No, I can't issue you a visa."

Answering Machine: "Hi, it's Sam. I'm sleeping for a few hours right now, so you can leave a message... ... or if you really need me, you can shout into the machine, and I'll wake up".

    *beep*

    Josh: "SAAAAAAAAM!!!!"

One of my favorite eps is early in season 1. "In Excelsis Deo" I think its the 10th episode in season 1. First there is Sam and Josh trying to help out Leo by getting Sams call girl friend to roll over on some Republicans. They run it by Leo who couldn't be more against the idea, but they do it anyways. Of course it turns out horribly and the go back to Leos and he knows because he had the m followed.

    Leo: I know

    Josh: How do you know?

    Leo: I had you followed

Sam: You had us tailed? Why?

Leo: On the off chance that you're both as stupid as you look.

Classic Leo but nothing compares to the scene with Margaret when she's trying to get him to sign his christmas cards.

Leo (while signing cards): Who's this for?

    Margaret: Elizabeth.

Leo: Who the hell is that?

    Margaret: Your sister.

    and the best one---

Margaret (presenting cards for Leo's signature): We like to spread holiday cheer.

Leo: Who the hell is this guy, and why do I care if he has a Merry Christmas?

Margaret: Just sign the damn thing!

My favorite Margaret moment is when Ainsley is telling Leo how nice Margaret had been. He tells Ainsley that Margaret will appreciate it, she's standing on the other side of the door, and hits the door. Margaret's "Ow!" just sounded so perfect. Especially since Leo is so matter-of-fact about the whole thing.

The bit in debate camp when Sam starts giving an answer for the AG question and Bartlet asks him if he was "doing him". Hillarious.

I was watching Mandatory Minimums again yesterday, and this bit cracked me up:

    BARTLET
Guys, let me tell you what I would like to have happen, right now.

    JOSH
    [enters] Good evening, Mr. President.

    BARTLET
Josh walking in the door wasn't even close.

    JOSH
    How you doing, tonight?

    BARTLET
I'm fine, thanks. How you doing?

    JOSH
Good! I gave Joey Lucas a coffee mug. She doesn't know anybody here and
    she's already
working hard. She's very committed. I think I did the right thing.

    BARTLET
See, the part I don't understand is, I got like, 24 armed guards right
    outside my
    bedroom door...

Doesn't look nearly as good written down, but Sheen's delivery is great.

I have many favorites many of which have been mentioned here already a few which haven't. Mrs Santos's reaction to being Ma'amed. Abby and Jed usually very funny even when they are fighting, Josh and Donna 99.95% of the time but especially the reaction the first time they slept together and their discussion about the tax rebate.
Lord John Marbury is always amusing, the way he went on about Abby's breasts are her birthday party... and while at the same party when the 4 ladies were drinking together and then Abby had them raise Canadian flags and play the Canadian anthem in Donna's honor.

truly classic comedy with great drama

You guys have mentioned most of my favorites, but there was one episode in season 7 that was pure gold. It was the one that Bradley Whitford wrote.

CJ: We do have a government to run.

Josh: I don't care about that,

    CJ: Should we tell her?

Kate: NO, no, no, this is where we all stare at her funny until she figurs it out herself.

    Just too funny.

don't know if this has been mentioned but in "Portland Trip" when CJ makes fun of Notre Dame and the President makes her wear the hat, prep to sing the fight song and Danny won't give her copy back. They set it up so you get a new chuckle every couple of minutes. It's classic !

Not sure of episode numbers or exact contexts, but here are some of my favourites that haven't been mentioned yet.

Josh (through narration) is replying to a letter his mother wrote him. He says something like "thankyou for the new shoes", and it cuts to a scene of him walking down a hallway and slipping over.

In the first season episode where it is revealed Toby made $100,000 on a stock deal. In Leo's office, when they're all making fun of him, he just sits there and says "There is literally... no one... on this planet... that i don't hate, right now".

My newest favorite is from season 3 when President Bartlett is still Gov. Bartlett and Leo comes in to pop the question. Right before that when the 2 aides are pitching the "New Hampshire. It's what's new" bit and Jeb says:

    "And the goggles"

His tone and delivery in that bit is hilarious.

I love the scene, I don't remember the season though, when Josh is wearing his new shoes, his mother gave him, and he walks around the corner and falls down, because they are to new. That's just great.

A similar one is, where he runs into this massive guy and the impact was so big that he falls down.

    Josh is just the best!

Nobody has mentioned this one yet so I will.

The season one episode that opens with Josh and the President in the Oval. Jed is leacturing Josh on National parks, in particular Shennandoah.

Jed (excited): We should organise a field trip!

Josh (muttering): Good a place as any to dump your body.
