  • Not bad, and good to see the warm side of the players, especially Thorpe.

At first, this looks like just a mere recycling of Season 2's "A Christmas Present", but it takes a couple of plotlines and weaves them together very nicely. Reeves once again is stuck with no place to go and no one to be with for Christmas, since apparently Bill and Katie are in North Dakota. Reeves' single-guy angst is put to the test when he and the team help out at a basketball clinic at a Catholic school. The attractive basketball coach also happens to be a nun, as Reeves finds out at an inopportune time! Meanwhile, Thorpe takes an interest in one of the kids who lives in an orphanage and it's touching to see him befriend him. And, the plot with Stone trying to pawn off reject Christmas trees for cash ends nicely as the team donates them to the orphanage and spends some quality time with the kids. The warmest moments come when Thorpe gives the camper an astronomy book as a gift, one of the kids wants Coolidge to lift himm up to put a star on a tree, and Reeves shows up at the church where the nun is and worships. A satisfying episode.moreless
