  • A poignant episode which shows how strong the bond between Reeves and Coolidge actually is.

    8.4
Coolidge's apartment building burns down, and his mom, little sis, and brother have to stay with his aunt, who lives across town, out of Carver's district. Solution: Coolidge stays with Reeves so he won't have to miss the next game. Simple, huh? Sure, until Coolidge shows he isn't the best of houseguests, being sloppy, borrowing Reeves' clothes, and letting the team party at the place. But, we see that Warren shoulders a lot of responsibility at home, being without a father, and relishes the chance to be a kid for a few days with Reeves as his father figure.moreless

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • The decor of Reeves' apartment shifts back and forth in this episode. When Coolidge arrives, Reeves has his "hide-a-bed" sofa in the corner of the living room area and the TV in the opposite corner. But, when the team comes over to party while the team is out AND during the scenes when Coolidge and Reeves answer the phone to talk to Mrs. Coolidge, the apartment has switched to the decor from the show's first season, with the "sofa" area built in to the corner where the hide-a-bed was originally.

    • At the end, when Reeves and Coolidge are talking, Coolidge remarks about his time at Reeves' place going well, except for the incident with the food processor. It was actually the blender he messed up with.

    • Somehow, Coolidge now has a younger brother and sister. In "Bonus Baby" from season 1, he told Walter Preston that he and his mother live alone.

    • The next day, after Coolidge's first night at Reeves' place, basketball practice happens, then Coach talks to a student and then to Sybil about Coolidge arriving "the night before." It seems awfully late for either Sybil or students to still be at school at this time.

    • After Coolidge finishes serving breakfast to his sister and brother and sits down to sew his sister's button, he's apparently forgotten about the batter he poured in the skillet on the stove beforehand. It would have easily burned by then.

    • The team sings "Twist and Shout" by the Isley Brothers (with Coolidge singing lead) in the shower in this episode.

    • The footage of Carver playing and getting beat without Coolidge in this episode is the exact same footage that was used in "Bonus Baby" in season one, save for Reeves passing by Coolidge in the bleachers afterwards.

  • NOTES (1)

    • Shortly after Coolidge arrives at Coach Reeves' place, Coach makes hamburgers for himself and Warren. When they sit down to eat, it looks like both Reeves and Coolidge are drinking beer with dinner. Wouldn't the coach get in some trouble for allowing a minor to consume alcohol?
