    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Reese is said to be a senior in this episode, but during the discussion between Sybil and Darlene, Sybil says he's not even 17 years old. Most high school seniors have reached 17 by their senior year.

      • The team sings "My Girl" by The Temptations in the shower in this episode, with Jackson (Erik Kilpatrick) singing lead and Thorpe (Kevin Hooks) providing the downbeat.

    • QUOTES (2)

      • Sybil: Buy you a cup of coffee, Mr. Reeves?
Reeves: Only if you promise to stop calling me "Mr. Reeves." A simple "massa" will do.

      • Reeves: First of all, I want to apologize.
        Reese: For?
Reeves: For some things I'm about to say that I don't think either of you are gonna like.
        Darlene: Things like what?
Reeves: (to Darlene) Like, I don't think you're pregnant.
Reese What's that supposed to mean?
Reeves: Read my lips...I don't think she's pregnant!
Darlene: Why would I lie about something like that?
Reeves: Because you're scared to death of losing Milton.
Reese: She knows better than that!
Reeves: I wonder. In some ways, you know, she's smarter than you, Milton. She knows, for example, you could've gotten a basketball scholarship probably to a school out of state. She also knows that with a four-year college education under your belt, you probably weren't coming back here. She's afraid that meant you weren't coming back for her, either. (to Darlene) How am I doing so far?
Darlene: Come on, Milton, let's get out of here!
Reeves: I don't mean you did it maliciously. I think you really love Milton. You were just afraid of what your life would be like without him.
        Darlene: That's a lie!
Reeves: I think you've seen it happen to a lot of girls and you're gonna make damn sure it doesn't happen to you.
Reese: Just shut up! What's with you, man? First you say marry her, then you say wait. You're just trying to poison us!
Reeves: (to Darlene) Take a pregnancy test.
        Darlene: I did already!
Reeves: Who's the doctor? Where are the test results?
        Darlene: None of your business!
        Reeves: You afraid?
Reese: Look, if she takes it, will you leave us alone?
        Reeves: Absolutely.
Darlene: No, Milton! I won't do it!
Reese: Why not? Look, Darlene, I'm gonna jam this down his throat once and for all!
Reeves: She won't take the test because she knows it'll come out negative!
(Darlene pauses, knowing she's been found out. Reese is shocked.)
Reeves: How could you have signed up for next semester's cheerleading squad if you knew you were gonna be six months pregnant?
        Reese: DARLENE!

    • NOTES (3)
