Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • A "Toot Toot" poster is seen on the door at the Wiggly dressing room.

    • After Dorothy does her backstage intro for "Romp Bomp a Stomp", the video footage cuts over to Dorothy already on stage holding a bouquet of roses. This is likely because in the actual concert, there was the song "D.O.R.O.T.H.Y. My Favorite Dinosaur" which has been shown in the TV Series, which features Dorothy walking in with the roses.
During the intro for "Hot Potato," there are bubbles floating around on stage. Since the previous song, "Romp Bomp A Stomp" did not involve blowing bubbles, the concert might have included some sort of song involving Henry or some skit involving bubble blowing.

    • At the beginning of "Bucket of Dew," Murray is to the left of Greg, but when the Wiggles leave the stage, Greg is to the left of Murray.

After "Wiggly Medley", when Officer Beaples joins Anthony is waving goodbye, the front camera shots have Officer Beaples on the stage left side of Anthony, but the rear camera shots all have Officer Beaples on the stage right side of Anthony.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Anthony: Now on the subject of dance, I got a question. Can you point your fingers and do the twist? You beauty.
Greg: Well, I was just wondering. Can you try this? Can you stand on one foot and shake your hands? Hey, that's great, everybody.
Murray: Well, I think we're ready. We might ask all the children to stand up and let's point our fingers and do the twist together. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

    • (Jeff swings his arms while making a monkey sound after the other Wiggles and the audience wake him up.)
      Anthony: Hey!
      Greg: Wow!
Murray: What's he doing? Jeff, excuse me. What are you doing?
Jeff: I just had a dream. I dreamt when I was a monkey and I was doing a monkey dance just like this.
      Greg: Just like that, Jeff?
      Jeff: Just like this.
Greg: Jeff, that sounds like a great idea. (to audience) Let's do a monkey dance together, everybody!

    • Jeff: Ahoy there me hearties. Oh, and I'm awake now 'cause Captain Feathersword is coming to do a pirate dance. I got my pirate hat, I got my pirate shirt, I got my pirate belt, and I got my pirate boots. (laughs) Are you ready to do a pirate dance? Beauty! Ooh. I better get the other Wiggles. (runs to stage)
Jeff: Hey Wiggles! Get ready! Here comes Captain Feathersword!
      Anthony: There he is.

    • (backstage)
Dorothy: I'm so happy. (giggles) Heeeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm gonna sing the Romp Bomp a Stomp with The Wiggles. (giggles again) Heeeeeeeeeeeeee!
      (camera transitions to on stage)
Anthony: But hang on, Dorothy. There's lots of dances in the world. What dance would you like to do?
Dorothy: Uh.... The Romp Bomp a Stomp!
Anthony: Romp Bomp a Stomp (Dorothy giggles.) sounds like a great one! But we need someone to count it in, Doro...
(Dorothy points Anthony to Officer Beaples.)
      Anthony: Officer Beaples, of course!
(Officer Beaples walks down the steps.)
Anthony: (to Officer Beaples) Officer, (blubbers briefly) we're gonna do a dance called the Romp Bomp a Stomp. Would you mind coming up front? We'll start the song off. Let's go. (walks together with Officer Beaples) Right, left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right, left. Oop, stop. Now, the police whistle. When you blow that police whistle, Officer Beaples, we'll all start dancing the Romp Bomp a Stomp.
(Officer Beaples blows her police whistle.)

    • Anthony: Now if I touch the first pirate button, well, the Captain's voice will change. Watch this.
Captain Feathersword: My voice will change? It was my first pirate button. My voice will change. Are you sure about... (Anthony touches the first pirate button and his voice talks higher.)
Murray: Listen to that! His voice is going higher and fast. (turns first button off)
Captain Feathersword: (normal voice) ...what to say. Yeah.
Murray: Now, I wonder what'll happen when we press the next button? (presses second button)
Captain Feathersword: Maybe my voice will... (talks in a low voice)
Murray: His voice is going low and slow.
(Captain Feathersword continues talking in a slow voice when Murray turns off the button.)

    • Greg: (to audience) Would you like to see what that third button does, everybody?
      (The audience cheers.)
Greg: (to Captain Feathersword) Captain, I think they want to know.
Captain Feathersword: Oh, are you sure that this is a special occasion, Greg?
Greg: Captain, it's a very special day.
Captain Feathersword: A very special day?
      Greg: Yes, indeed.
Captain Feathersword: Well, if that's the case now. Here we go.
(Captain Feathersword pushes the third button. An explosion of confetti comes out.)
      Greg: Wow!
(The confetti rains all over the audience top and bottom while Jeff plays glockenspiel music on his keyboard.)
Captain Feathersword: Look at that! That's great!
      Greg: Yes.
Captain Feathersword: Wow! That's better than I could imagine.
      (Wags arrives back on stage.)
Anthony: (to audience) How about a big clap for Captain Feathersword.
      (The audience applauds.)
Captain Feathersword: See you later, me hearties. Bye-bye. (leaves)
      Greg: See you later, Captain.
      Captain Feathersword See you, Wags.
      Wags: Ruff, ruff.
Jeff: Hey Wags, do you see all that confetti? Wasn't it great?
      Wags: Ruff.

    • Anthony: (to Murray) Any luck with the mechanic?
Murray: Well, yes. I found the mechanic, guys. He said, "Did you try putting your seat-belts on? Maybe you didn't have your seat-belts on when you were trying to start the car." (he and the others point to the Big Red Car.)
Anthony: Oh, he's right! The Wiggly Mechanic! We must have putten our seat-belts on.
(The Wiggles walk to the Big Red Car and sit inside.)
Anthony: (to Officer Beaples while he and the others put their seat-belts on) Officer Beaples, we ran the Wiggly Mechanic. He said, "You musn't had your seat-belts on stage." And that's why the car didn't work. We're putting them on now. Let's see if it works.
(Greg starts the engine of the Big Red Car while "Toot Toot Chugga Chugga Big Red Car" song starts playing.)
      Murray: Hey, hey!
Wiggles: (singing) Toot, toot, Chugga, chugga, Big Red Car...
      Anthony: It's working.
      Greg: All right.
      (Officer Beaples dance along.)
Wiggles: (continue singing while in the Big Red Car) ...We'll travel near and we'll travel far
Toot, toot, Chugga, chugga, Big Red Car
We're gonna ride the whole day long.
(The Wiggles and Officer Beaples wave goodbye to the audience.)
Greg: See you later, everybody. Goodbye.
Murray: Goodbye. Thanks for coming. We hope we had fun.

    • Murray: Well, everyone, it's almost the end of the year. Christmas is coming. Hanukkah's coming. We got our Santa hats on. Let's sing some Christmas songs together, everyone.
      Anthony: Happy Wiggly Christmas, everybody.

      3rd in 1999. (7th on overall list)

According to ABC Entertainment's annual report for 1999-2000, the Wiggly Big Show video was their second highest selling product with 139,705 units.

    • This video uses concert footage from their Toot Toot tour in December 1998. Unlike their other concert videos, this one cuts out some of the onstage activity and replaces it with studio recorded "backstage" skits, including one where Murray goes all the way back to Wigglehouse to call the mechanic.

The song "D.O.R.O.T.H.Y. My Favorite Dinosaur" was normally part of the Toot Toot concert set but was not included in this video. It can be found in the TV series episode Imagination.

    • Additional Cast Credits
      The characters:
Leeanne Ashley, Edward Rooke, Paul Paddick, Reem Hanwell

Cassandra Halloran, Jessica Halloran, Leanne Halloran, Kristen Knox, Cameron Lewis, Joanna Murphy, Scott Porter, Sian Ryan, Larissa Wright

    • Background music
In the segment where Wags is tap dancing with the Waggettes, the song played is not Tap Wags, but Magic Club Music, which is the background music for Greg's magic show skits. The video also mistakenly captions this as We're Dancing With Wags the Dog.

When the Wiggles say goodbye after the Wiggly Medley, the background song is Let's Have a Party. This instrumental is played as their standard ending at most of their concerts.

The instrumental version of "In the Wiggles World" (theme song for TV series 2) is played when Greg says "Thanks to our friends at Oz Email Internet."

      Song title comments
We're Dancing With Wags the Dog was captioned as just Wags the Dog.
Bucket of Dew/Paddy Condon from Cobar was captioned as Bucket of Dew.
Do the Wiggle Groove was captioned as Wigglegroove.

Can You (Point Your Fingers and Do the Twist)? was listed in the closing credits as Can You (Point Your Finger and Do the Twist)?

The Wiggly Medley lists Fruit Salad fifth on the list instead of second.

The Wiggly Christmas Medley did not list Let's Clap Hands for Santa Claus, and spells Jose Feliciano's song Felice Navidad instead of Feliz Navidad.

On some of the songs, Murray is pushing the song title caption across.

    • In "Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car", Murray plays the guitar in the computer backgrounded Wiggles World. But when the video transitions to the concert, he isn't playing it. He doesn't even have it in the Big Red Car.

    • This is the first concert video that features additional animations placed on-screen during their song.

Monkeys on "The Monkey Dance" during "Jump to the front and back" parts.

Quacking ducks on "Captain Feathersword Fell Asleep On His Pirate (AKA Quack, Quack)" during "Quack, Quack, Quack, Cock-a-Doodle-Doo" parts.

Potatoes with arms and legs on "Hot Potato" during "Hot Potato, Hot Potato" parts.

Christmas holly and bells swinging back and forth in the upper left corner throughout "Wiggly Christmas Medley."

    • At the end of "Do the Wiggle Groove", Jeff goes off-stage and doesn't appear with the other Wiggles during "Move Your Arms Like Henry." This is likely because he is providing the voice of Henry live at the concert.

    • "Wiggly Christmas Medley" makes its debut on this video and was also added to the 1999 Wiggly Wiggly Christmas video, however, it did not make it onto either the companion soundtrack for the tour-related Toot Toot album, or the Wiggly Wiggly Christmas album. The song was finally released on the Live! Hot Potatoes album in 2005 and was also included in the Christmas Karaoke and Tinsel Town Tunes karaoke-compatible album.

    • Set novelties

The Big Red Car debuts as a moving vehicle at a concert.

    • Greg plays a bit of guitar during Bucket of Dew. He also plays Jeff's keyboard in Romp Bomp a Stomp.

    • The Wiggles acknowledge their sponsor, OzEmail Internet, at the beginning and at the end of their video. OzEmail also sponsored their Wiggly Big Show concert tour consisting of 17 shows.

    • Wiggly Big Show concert tour
17 shows nationwide starting from November 2, 1999 (Perth) to December 14, 1999 (Sydney)

    • Family and Friends
