Wags the Dog
What is this "Everybody is Clever" video?
In the Australian release, this is a video that comes after the statue skit. It is preceded by an additional line where Greg says "Let's do statues together, everybody." In the US release, the Everybody is Clever video was replaced by a Chase scene which is also one of the closing videos of TV Series 1.
Everybody is Clever - Goofs and Nitpicks
The song is based on "Samba Lele," a Brazilian children's song whose arrangement was popularized by children's music artist Raffi, on his "More Singable Songs" album, published in 1977.
The musical arrangements are similar. Some of the instructions on where to put your hands is common to both versions. Raffi's version retains the Portuguese "o menina" in the chorus and has more stamping your feet. It also focuses on Samba Lele the character and some of his silly actions, while the Wiggles one talks about being clever and being still as a statue. The Wiggles' version also has the peculiar instruction "put your hands on your cheek; leave it there for ten weeks."
In the skit before "Dorothy, Would You Like to Dance with Me?", Jeff invites Dorothy to dance with the Wiggles; he and Dorothy walk arm-in-arm to the center, but the song then has Jeff standing in the back playing the keyboard like none of that ever happened.
In the "Bing Bang Bong" song, when The Wiggles help Captain Feathersword up after he falls down, studio lights can be seen in the upper right corner.
In the "I Can Do So Many Things" video, some of the kids have switched positions or have gone missing between consecutive clips.
In the concert portion of this video, Anthony, Murray and Greg are all wearing short-sleeved shirts instead of long ones. However, Jeff wears an ordinary long-sleeved purple shirt. Henry and Wags all retain the same costumes as the video, but Dorothy's old costume is also seen on "D.O.R.O.T.H.Y. (My Favorite Dinosaur)".
In the backstage skit before "Can you point your fingers and do the twist," Murray plays a yellow acoustic guitar and they rush to the stage, but when they are on stage for the song, Murray is playing a red guitar.
At the beginning of the second concert song "D.O.R.O.T.H.Y. My Favorite Dinosaur", Anthony plays Murray's red guitar, but there are two shots where he is playing the yellow acoustic guitar: First, when he comments before the second stanza about mowing the garden, and second, near the end of the song in the last chorus.
In the Goodbye Dance, the Wiggles chant Dorothy's catchphrase, "Romp Bomp a Chomp."
The Special Thanks part of the closing credits mistakenly label Clare, Joseph and Dominic with last name Silvestrini instead of Field. Silvestrini is the family name of their cousins who are also active in the Wiggles company and early videos.
Murray: (to camera) Hey look, everyone. It's Captain Feathersword, the friendly pirate. Let's all say, "Ahoy There, Captain Feathersword".
Wiggles: Ahoy there, Captain Feathersword.
Captain Feathersword: Ahoy there, me hearties. A Bing Bang Bong. (jumps up to camera left, clapping feet)
Wiggles: A Bing Bang Bong?!? (jump up to camera left, clapping feet)
Captain Feathersword: A Ring Rang Rong. (jumps up to camera right, clapping feet)
Wiggles: A Ring Rang Rong?!? (jump up to camera right, clapping feet)
Murray: What's that, Captain?
Captain Feathersword: A Bing Bang Bong (jumps camera left), a Ring Rang Rong. (jumps camera right) That's a Pirate Song!
Wiggles: A Pirate Song!
(Greg does a magic trick where he will make Jeff appear in a magic box. He has just directed Anthony and Murray to spin the box around.)
Greg: Wonderful! (turns to camera) Now when I count to three, let's all say, "Wiggle Waggle", and we'll see if the magic works. Are you ready?
Greg, Murray and Anthony: One, two, three. Wiggle Waggle!
(Greg pulls out the magic cloth and Jeff is sleeping and snoring inside the glass box.)
Murray: Oh, wow!
Greg: It's Jeff. (pauses) He's asleep. (drops magic cloth on the floor)
Anthony: He sure is. Well, let's open this side and see what we can do.
(Anthony and Greg remove the lid from the box.)
Greg: (to camera while Anthony and Murray place the lid down on the floor) Let's wake Jeff up, okay? When I count to three, let's all say, "Wake up Jeff!". Are you ready?
Greg, Murray and Anthony: One, two, three. Wake up, Jeff!
(Jeff gets up from the glass box, turns, stumbles a bit, and then stands happily with his arms to his hips.)
Murray: Hey, Jeff, are you awake now?
Jeff: I'm awake now, Murray.
Murray: That's great, Jeff. Because we (spinning arms) nee-eee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-eed you for the next song. Zingle, zangle!
Jeff: Okay! (Wiggly fingers pose) B-b-b-boom! (laughs)
(The kids are drawing some pictures about the beach with their highlighter markers and pencils.)
Anthony: We're doing some drawings about the beach. What are you drawing, Michael?
Michael: A towel.
Anthony: A towel. Well, that's a good drawing. What about you, Peter?
Peter: Wags the Dog's tail.
Anthony: Wags the Dog and his tail. Oh, fantastic.
Peter: And his head.
Anthony: And his head. That's good. What about you, Leonardo?
Leonardo: I'm drawing a person swimming.
Anthony: A person swimming.
Murray: Nicole, can you tell me about your drawing?
Nicole: I'm drawing the water in the sands.
Murray: The water in the sands. That's great. And Sian, what are you drawing?
Sian: I'm drawing a person about to jump in the water.
Murray: Wow, that's great. (turns to camera) Well, here's a song about having fun at the beach.
Anthony: Well, Jeff must be having a really good dream. He's still asleep.
Murray: It's time for us to go now.
Greg: So why don't we all do a Goodbye Dance and we'll see if that wakes Jeff up.
Anthony, Greg and Murray: (waving goodbye) Goodbye.
(Anthony holds Jeff's hand to wave goodbye to the camera.)
Murray: Hi. We're getting ready for our show. Before we do the show, we have a bit of a sing to warm up our voices. (to Anthony and Greg) Let's do that now, guys.
(Murray strums his guitar.)
Anthony and Greg: (singing) Hands in the air, Rock-A-Bye Your Bear, Bears now asleep. Shh, shh, shh. Bears now asleep. Shh, shh, shh.
Anthony: After our voices are warmed up before the concert, we make sure that our clothes are okay. So we're tucking our shirts, and make sure that they're alright, and a quick brush in the air.
(Anthony points to Wags and Henry.)
Anthony: And over here, Wags is helping Henry. Wags is polishing Henry's shoes. That's very nice of you to do that, Wags.
Greg: But do you know what? There's only one problem. Somebody's missing.
Anthony and Greg: Where's Jeff?
Murray: (pointing to Jeff) Oh, no! He's asleep.
(Jeff snoozes in a chair.)
Greg: Oh, no! Jeff is always falling asleep. Well, we better wake Jeff up, okay? When I count to three, let's say, "Wake Up Jeff". One, two, three.
Anthony, Murray and Greg: Wake Up, Jeff!
(Jeff jumps out of his chair and does his shaking of the head)
Jeff: Hey, I'm awake, now, guys. Let's go to the concert.
Greg and Murray: Okay!
Anthony: Let's do the concert. Come on, guys. The show!
(Jeff, Greg, Murray, Anthony, Wags and Henry leave to go to the concert)
(Greg tells the other three Wiggles stand as still as a statue. Each Wiggle takes a pose, and Greg affirms those are good poses. Greg then faces the camera.)
Greg: Well, we've got three statues here. Now I need everybody else to do me a really, really big favor. Could you keep an eye on those statues for me and just let me know if they move? (Jeff, Anthony, and Murray dance around quietly.) Because statues aren't supposed to move. Now in this next song, we can all have a… What's that? Oh, they're moving, are they? Oh, all right. I better have a look. (other Wiggles stop) Thanks everyone.
(Greg turns around but sees the three standing still in their poses.)
Greg: (to camera) No, no, no. They're not moving. They're being statues. (Wiggles move again) That what I wanted them to do. That's okay. Now, just let me know if they move. Now, this next song is a chance for all of... Again? All right. I better have another look and see. Thanks again, everyone.
(Greg turns around and looks at Jeff and Anthony who are still. Murray realizes he's facing backwards and scurries around with his strongman pose. Greg then turns to look at Murray, who is still.)
Greg: (to camera) Oh, I see. You're trying to trick me, are you?
(Jeff, Anthony, and Murray resume dancing.)
Greg: No? Well, then what's going on? I don't understand. I asked you to tell me if they...
(Anthony flaps his arms and makes a seagull sound at Greg's face.)
Greg: Oh! (laughs) You were right! (turns to others) Hey, guys, I asked you to stand still like a statue, that means you don't dance around and do all sorts of funny things. No, no, no! What I meant was you stand very, very still. (stands still with the others, and faces camera) Can you stand as still as a statue? (last line on Australian version) Let's do statues together, everybody.

Family and Friends
In the song "We Like to Say Hello", some of the people they wave to are family members and bandmates from The Cockroaches involved in the Wiggles production. Tony Henry, the studio drummer for the album makes two appearances, one with his family and with an Elvis Presley costume while holding his son who is also wearing an Elvis wig. Paul Paddick wears a rashie and a scuba mask. Dominic Lindsay and his family appear. In another song "Wave to Wags". John Field is seen inside a truck, followed by Tony Henry on the sidewalk.
Murray's daughter, Georgia, is in the outdoor beachside scene at "Having Fun at the Beach" and also appears in the studio footage songs "Take a Trip Out on the Sea", "I Can Do So Many Things" and "Goodbye Dance". Greg's daughter, Blaine, is also in the "Goodbye Dance".
"Bucket of Dew / Paddy Condon from Cobar" is based on a traditional Irish folk song "The Rare Old Mountain Dew". The subtitle "Paddy Condon from Cobar" is a reference to Anthony's great-grandfather Paddy Condon who owned a pub in the mining town of Cobar in western New South Wales.
