  • When the Princess of Albania turns up missing, it is Jim and Artemus who come to the rescue. However, it is much harder than they thought to rescue her from her own brother.moreless

This episode is not particularlly one of my favorites. It has a good plot, an Albanian Princess is kidnapped and must be found before war begans between the United States and Albania, but that is about all it has. Jim and Artemus are their usual selves, Jim wooing women and Artemus trying to get his far share of them. My favorite part is when Artemus has to con his way into the party because they will not let him in since he does not have an invitation, even if he is a Baron. I also loved the fight between Jim and the Prince. Thoughs cheesy jumps and backflips were hilarious.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • Prince Gio's scar changes noticeably from scene to scene.

    • When Prince Gio and Jim are fighting in the room above the ballroom, it is very easy to see that it is not the actor who plays Prince Gio in the fight.

    • When Jim is holding the smoke bomb he is wearing a ring on his left hand. However, when he is buttoning his shirt there is no sign of the ring.

    • When Jim and Artemus are talking about how the princess was taken, Jim is making movements as if he is buttoning his shirt during a close up, but when the camera cuts to both Artemus and Jim his shirt is wide open.

    • Disguises: Baron of Saxony

    • Gadgets: tear-gas grenade, metal-cutting ring

    • Marianna's dialect and phrasing at times are inconsistent with someone from Albania. At one point, she refers to West as "mon ami" (French), another time she refers to him as "Señor West" (Spanish). For most of the episode, her accent is Eastern European which would be closer to the mark considering that Albania borders with Greece.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • (Artemus turns on classical music)
Artemus: (trying to woo Marianna) Presto, Marianna! Music.
      (Marianna turns off the music)
Marianna: I have no time for nonessentials.
      (Marianna begins to type)
Artemus: Boy, do you pick the wrong time.
Jim: Artemus...that's not the way it's done.
Artemus: No? All right, Mr. Expert, why don't you show me?
(Jim walks over and sits near Marianna)
      Jim: Hello, Marianna.
      Marianna: Hello, Mr. West.
Jim: Well last time it was James.
Marianna: That was a thousand years ago now. I must learn to earn my livelihood when I go home. I must learn how to master this machine. I must practice.
Artemus: That's the way it's done, huh?

    • Marianna: "C" does not only stand for "camoriste." It also stands for "caress."
      (Jim and Marianna kiss)
Artemus: Well that's an interesting way to overcome an enemy.

    • Prince Gio: Poor Nicholas. I did not mean to hurt him. But in the excitement of the action, I let myself think of tomorrow's opponent.
Artemus: And who might that be?
Prince Gio: A 700-pound grizzly bear.
      Artemus: Ah...claws taped, of course?
Prince Gio: No, why? We must give the bear a chance, no?

    • Artemus: May I? (Artemus takes a typed menu from the embassy secretary) Thank you. A menu prepared by you. I'd be happy to eat the print.

    • Artemus: Smoke bombs. I hope you don't mind, old friend, I incorporated a little extra bonus in these.
Jim: As it smokes...I turn into Aladdin.

    • Jim: Now, what are we going to do about the Albanian Ambassador?
Artemus: Oh, that's easy. We just, uh, walk into the embassy and say, "Prince Gio, how do you do? We're the two boobs who are responsible for your sister, the Princess Gina, being either...kidnapped or killed."

    • (Jim is practicing some fighting moves when Artemus enters the room)
Artemus: Are you getting in shape to face a firing squad?

  • NOTES (1)

Aladdin is a reference to an old Arabic tale of a young man who retrieves a magic lamp that has a genie inside.
