The Night of the Tottering Tontine

West and Gordon are assigned to protect Dr. Raven, who is developing a secret weapon for the U.S. government. Raven is a member of a tontine, an investment group whose bylaws state that the last surviving member of the group gets the assets of the group. When three of the tontine's members are killed and an attempt is made on Raven's life, the agents decide to investigate and find a house full of traps.

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • The knife blade that springs out of the chair back is considerably longer than the thickness of the chair. It also wobbles noticeably when it emerges, indicating the hand of the crew member thrusting it through wasn't quite steady.

      • Disguises: Scottish secretary/bodyguard Angus MacGordon

    • QUOTES (8)

      • Jim: The point I'm trying to make is this: Dexter and Stimson were murdered. That could happen to everyone else here in this room.
        Grevely: Ridiculous!
Jim: You're right, sir. I should have said everyone here... minus one.

      • Stimson: Raven down, six more corpses to go.
Jim: Stimson, you're becoming less and less attractive to me.

      • Artie: Sorry I'm late, mustache trouble.

      • Grevely: And now let me introduce you to the survivors of the tontine, gentlemen.
Artie: He'd better hurry, there won't be any of them left.

      • Archduke Maurice: Baring, would you be seated?
Baring: No no no no, my dear Archduke. Nobility before talent.

      • Archduke Maurice: (taking a glass of possibly poisoned wine) You were wise to be cautious, Baring!
Baring: Maurice, what is it, what is it?!?
Archduke Maurice: The wine… it has gone flat. Pity, I shall have to search for another bottle. Bon voyage.

      • Artie: Even the police investigation failed to disclose the fact that Martin Dexter had a twin brother.
Archduke Maurice: To kill your own brother. (laughs) You know, if I had thought of that, I could still be on the throne.

      • Artie: What happened to Dexter?
Jim: He's… stuck in the rumpus room.
