Omar is back, and up to his old ways, as he rips off one of Marlo's stashes with a new protege under his wing. Bodie bristles when Marlo cuts in on his successful corner, demanding that he take Marlo's product- or else.

Bunk visits McNulty and Russell, and is chagrined to find out that his old friend is now domesticated.

Royce plays hardball, using all the power of his office to retaliate for the news leak about the slain murder witness- but he alienates Delegate Watkins in the process. Royce also meets with Herc, promising to help him in his quest to make Sergeant- with the unspoken expectation that Herc wil maintain his silence. The Co-op is worried about rival dealers moving in from New York, and about Marlo's growing empire. They decide to send Proposition Joe to reach out to the stubborn Marlo once again, hoping he will succeed where Avon failed.

Rawls replaces the ineffective commander of the wiretap detail with his own martinet, prompting Greggs and Freamon to request transfers to Homicide. Colvin, now head of security at a high-end hotel, becomes dissatisfied with his job and jumps at an offer to participate in a research study to be implemented by the University of Maryland. They will involve high-risk students in an intervention program to reduce their likelihood of becoming offenders. There are lots of things going on in this episode, but it really belongs to the students at Tilghman School: The whip-smart and ambitious Randy, who has a thriving concession business running during luch breaks; The pathetic Dukie, whose drug-addicted parents sell his school uniforms right out from under him; The angry, street-ready Namond, whose father Wee-Bey was imprisoned in conjuntion with the Barksdale case- and whose mother wants Namond to follow in Wee-Bey's footsteps as a Barkdsdale soldier; and the preternaturally composed Micheal, who continues to draw the notice of Mario's crew.

Classic stuff. TV drama has never been done better, Sopranos be damned.moreless

What with all the hustlers still scared of him, he should be on top of people like Marlo in a couple of weeks/episodes.

I enjoyed the correlation between Marlo taking over what’s left of Barksdale’s streets and Commissioner Rawls sending in a new lieutenant to stir things up at the wire. It seems to be working. But I’m sure that as soon as we have mayor Carcetti in office there will be a new program set in to place. Perhaps it will be a witness protection wire!

There is a little more McNulty this week than we experienced in last episode. It’s tough to predict how this detail will form and what importance McNulty will be in it. But it appears that every one of the major players left in the unit is going to homicide. Perhaps Major Daniels will be able to keep the wire afloat. Daniels himself gone through some kind of transformation since his promotion, we see this when Detective Greggs is in his office and all we have to know that she is talking to Daniels is that it’s his voice responding. It may look bleak at the moment but I’m speculating that the newest Major at the Baltimore Police Department will find the position to be a touch too methodical.

It’s impossible to touch on everything that happens with this enormous cast. With everything that goes on I’m surprised that we even got to McNulty this week. He seems to have very little presence this season. Hopefully something will happen at one of the schools and he will find a passion for fighting alongside our favorite team of police, again.
