So Modern Family, ABC's new pretty darn funny comedy, premieres tonight. And that got me thinking about families. TV families, that is. Pretty much every third TV show is about a family, but only a certain few stick out as the truly great television families--ones we admired or wanted to be a part of or loved to laugh at. With that in mind, here are my five favorite TV families.
Well, well, love IS in the air now that spring has sprung, isn’t it? First Harrison and Calista, then Bruce and Emma, and now word that Wonder Years star Danica McKellar has tied the knot with composer Mike Verta this weekend in La Jolla, California.
Who can forget Winnie Cooper, the sweet, pretty girl who captured our and Kevin Arnold’s hearts on Wonder Years and never let them go? Added to the long list of the smitten is 36-year old Verta, who has been with McKellar since 2001. Read more
Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane is venturing into live-action comedy.
McFarlane has teamed with writer-producer Ricky Blitt, a Family Guy alumnus, to resurrect Blitt's 2002 comedy pilot Becoming Glen. The reworked project has become a hot item, with CBS, NBC, and Fox vying for it.
The latter network actually ordered a pilot for Becoming Glen, starring Johnny Galecki (Roseanne), during the 2001-02 development season, but it did not make the cut.
However, it gained an instant cult status and attracted the attention of McFarlane, who subsequently came on board to executive-produce a new version with Blitt.
Blitt said the 2002 pilot was not executed properly but was happy with the new script. "This time I did it 100 percent the way I wanted to do it," he said.
