  • Kevin gets dumped by Winnie, and tries to get over her - unsuccessfully.

This is one of my favorite episodes. It has everything that deals with the teenage angst of breaking up. As we rarely see Jack Arnold's tender and compassionate side, the scene where Kevin is in the garage with his father was very moving when we see a rare glimpse of the real man, holding his son while Kevin's heart is breaking. One of the best father-son scenes I've ever seen.

    • Narrator: Winnie Cooper was my first real love. She grew up in a house across the street. She was the first girl I'd ever kissed. And now... she'd broken up with me. But it wasn't until the next day that I understood what it all meant.

    • Narrator: Love makes you do funny things. It makes you proud. It makes you sorry. That night we talked. About life. About our times together. Maybe we weren't the same two kids we had once been. But some things never change. Some things last. And even though I didn't know what was going to happen to us, or where we were going. I just knew I couldn't let her out of my life.
