Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • In the next shot after Wayne sucks the hamster into the vacuum, it is shown moving around in its cage in the background. That was the other hamster there were two in the cage. One hamster was named "weasey" and the other "puffy" for their project idea one hamster was given normal hamster food the other people food-cheese, crackers, root beer, etc. than they would put them in a maze one at a time and see which hamster on which food got to the end of the maze the fastest.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Narrator: Sometimes... when you're a kid... you lie awake at night and ponder the kinds of questions that grownups have long since stopped asking. Questions like - What did it feel like to be dead? Are time and space really infinite? What was there before the universe began? Why are there people like Wayne?
(Wayne snorts and tosses in his sleep.)
      Wayne: Butthead!
Narrator: I could never figure it out. Even in his sleep, my brother seemed to hate my guts. I guess he'd just never forgiven me for something I did to him very early in life. I'd been born. Then, to make things worse, I stayed. Not that the Wayner didn't try to adjust. In fact, our relationship eventually settled into a fairly stable pattern. (Clips of Wayne grabbing Kevin and hitting his shoulder.) I always imagined things would pretty much always be that way. But I guess no matter how much your brother hates your guts, and no matter how much you hate his... there's always something you hold back. There are things you could use against him that you don't use. No matter how much you hate your brother's guts... you don't really want to hurt him.
(Wayne opens his eyes and looks at Kevin.)
Wayne: What are you looking at?
Narrator: Until, one day... things go too far.

    • Narrator: As my brother and I walked home that day, I guess we both knew that things would never be quite the same between us. Everything would be more complicated now. Now, we both knew... that I could hurt him. The funny thing was, I'm not sure I was glad about that.

    • Kevin: I'm gonna kill him. Smash his brains out. Rip them to pieces. Rip his eyeballs out and roll them down the sewers!

    • Kevin: No one likes you, Wayne! You're dispecable.
(atomic explosion sound takes place in background at Kevin's remark.)

  • NOTES (3)

    • Toward the end of the episode, there is a montage of Kevin and Wayne fighting with each other. At the end of that montage, there is a scene in which two older men are sitting on a park bench hitting each other. They are, in real life, the grandparents of Fred Savage and Jason Hervey.
