Meet Eve (Tyra Banks). With her cloud of dark hair, stunning green eyes, and long legs that never seem to quit, she is a paragon of beauty. Eve loves to have fun. In her orange convertible, she dashes to the mall on a shopping spree or out dancing with one of her many beaus, the belle of the ball. She can do anything. Eve has been a police officer, a secretary, and a doctor. On top of that, she is the perfect homemaker at her little house in Sunnyvale. And Eve can talk -- she is every girl's special friend. She does favor glitzy jewelry and clothes, but what else would you expect from a plastic toy doll? Cut from a television commercial to the real world, where 12-year-old Casey Mitchell (Lindsay Lohan) is in the middle of a co-ed football game. She gets into a scrap with another player -- a boy who blames her for his fumbles -- but what really bothers her is that, yet again, her father has failed to keep his promise to show up. Ben Mitchell (Jere Burns) is immersed in work at his law practice, something that has become a habit since his wife's death two years ago. In the middle of a meeting with his associates Richie Ackerman (Garwin Sanford) and Drew Peterson (Anne Marie Loder), he remembers that he is missing Casey's game. Chagrined, he declines Drew's dinner invitation for the next night because it is Casey's birthday. He is not unaware of Drew's attractiveness, but some part of Ben still cannot let go of the past. Richie chastises Ben for turning Drew down and not taking more of an interest in life -- he is long overdue to rejoin the human race. Casey, whose emotional isolation after her mother's death has led her to snub all her old friends, decides to take matters into her own hands. She visits a local bookstore in search of an occult book containing a spell that will bring her mom back to life. Short of funds, she leaves all her savings and an I.O.U., then bolts. That night, as Casey and her father share an awkward birthday dinner at home, Drew stops by with a gift -- the glamorous Eve doll. Sports-loving Casey barely hides her disdain for the "girl" present. Later in her room, Casey meticulously assembles the simple items required for the incantation, which will work only once. Drew interrupts, and accidentally the Eve doll's hair gets mixed up among the objects. Casey says the magic words and goes to sleep. In the night, the Eve doll comes to life. The spell will become permanent in four days unless Casey can reverse it. She sneaks out with Eve in tow to track down volume two of the occult book, which will send Eve back to doll world, pronto. But things don't go quite so smoothly, and the daring duo have a string of adventures together that change their lives forever!moreless
