      • Mildred: What will they do to me? Even Maud thinks it was my fault. I've never seen HB look more furious. It always goes wrong, whatever I do. They'd all be better off without me. Come on, Tabby. We're running away.

      • Miss Hardbroom: This Halloween presentation is very important for all of us, Mildred.
        Mildred: Yes, Miss Hardbroom.
Miss Hardbroom: Confidence and control, Mildred. That's the secret of success. You have been making a special effort of late and it has not gone unnoticed.
        Mildred: Thank you, Miss Hardbroom.
Miss Hardbroom: And you have no excuses now, so I shall expect perfection from you tonight. Nothing else will do.

      • (after Mildred comes out of Miss Cackle's office)
        Maud: What did she say?
Mildred: She said I must be the worst witch in the entire school.
Ruby: Did she shout at you?
Mildred: Worse. She was really nice. But she says if she hears anymore bad reports, she doesn't know what she'll do with me.
        Maud: Oh, Millie.
        Ruby: It was a laugh.
        Jadu: You were hilarious.
Mildred: Well, I've made a promise to Miss Cackle and I mean it. No more acting the fool for me. I'm gonna be a lot more serious in the future.
