...That they used the same extras over and over again in the first few seasons

Hmm. No, I hadn't! New mission: look for over-used extras.

Yep! They did tend to use the same actors a lot, because they liked using local actors from Vancouver. ATM I can only think of one example, the sheriff in Die Hand Die Verletzt was used 4 times!

Being a LOST obsessive aswell I did notice that Terry O'Quinn played 3 different characters throughout the x-files:
He played Lt. Brian Tillman in Aubrey.
He played Darius Michaud in Fight The Future and...
He played the Shadow Man in Trust No 1.

Yes it's because what Katie said and plus, Chris calls people to play again, when he liked how they played and he worked well with them.

Also the same woman played Lucy Householder in Oubliette and Audrey Pauley. They were several seasons apart, but I was surprised they'd use the same actress for two really major parts like that.

The guy who played Ranheim in EBE was used about 4 times, I'm pretty sure the wheel chair scientist bloke (whose name escapes me right now) in WOTC was used in 3, and Willie Garson was used in The walk and in the goldberg variation... I've only just started to notice this to, which is helpful so i'm not racking my brain throughout an entire episode as to where i've seen the actor before I just assume they've already been used.

Slightly off topic, but I don`t think it`s necesarry to open new thread for this, and the sentence begins the same way as this thread`s title

Did anyone else notice that in TrustNo1 we can very clearly see Gillian`s wrist tattoo, in the scene where Scully is sitting on a bench and talking with Shadow Man on the phone?... I was quite surprised because I tried to see it in FTF (the hallway scene), and now it is sooooo visible.

    tattoo1

    tattoo2

And to stay on topic, Shadow Man is Terry O`Quinn, one of the "repeated actors", he was Michaud in FTF and Tillman in Aubrey.

Max Fenig's sister, who appeared in Season 4's Max and Tempus Fugit, also played a small part in Season 1's Miracle Man, she's the woman in the wheelchair who's poisoned.

I read at a website that even when the series was moved to LA, they were able to hire the same actors.

The man in Per Manum, who believed that his wife was killed, previously appeared in Demons as a detective, I think.

The show's top writer (imho) Darin Morgan appeared in two eps - as the Flukeman in The Host and later as Eddie Van Blundht in Small Potatoes. Looks to have put on about 60lbs between the two eps.
