As of today, December 20, 2006, here is what we know about the sequel:
- Both Mr. Duchovny and Ms. Anderson are on board for a sequel.
- Mr. Carter has an idea in place for the script and he is currently working on it.
- Frank Spotnitz is also aiding in drafting the script for the sequel.
- The sequel will most likely be a "Monster-of-the-Week" type episode, rather than a Mytharc episode as with the first film.
- Mr. Carter, has indeed sued 20th Century Fox over monetary issues with the show and nothing can continue with the sequel, until said litigation has been settled.
