Although I would really like to see a second XF movie sooner rather than later (and I have signed the petition) I am a little sceptical about how much it will all help.

What I mean to say is that it is only 6,500 people and even though that is a great efford by the people who have set this up, it still isn't quite a box-office hit....that's why I don't quite believe that this will convince them to do it.

Does anyone know if there is any precedent for films being made after fan petitions?

I'm with medusa on this one I have sighed and appalled the people out there still trying to do their part to make the 2nd flim happen...but don't think that anything we do will actually change anything.

Hmm yes, and then again there are so many X-files fans that maybe don't go on XF forums or message boards or just not come across the petition.
I think that it'll probably get made- we just need a petition for it to happen in the next five years... grrr

It really does need to be made sooner rather then later because soon they'll decide duchovny's too old (he's 45 now) and it won't work.
