The X-Files

FOX (ended 2018)

  • Season 4 Episode 24: Gethsemane (1)

  • Principal Settings: Boston, Massachusetts St. Elias Mountains, Yukon Territory, Canada; Washington, D.C.; Arlington and Sethburg, Virginia.

  • Season 4 Episode 23: Demons

  • Scully refers to Waxman-Geschwin or Dostoyevksy syndrome. It is named after Norman Geschwind who first categorized the symptoms and published extensively on the syndrome.  Dr. Waxman was a coauthor on an early paper.  Geschwind syndrome is a group of behavioral phenomena which cause changes in behavior.  This syndrome sometimes occurs in people with temporal lobe epilepsy.  In addition to hypographia (compulsive writing or drawing), it's also often marked by hyperreligiousity, changes in sexuality and a propensity toward long, indepth conversations.

  • Scully says the blood splatter pattern on Mulder's shirt is not a match to the crime, but she should have said blood spatter. A scientist should know this.

  • During the scene between Scully and Det. Curtis in the apartment of the police officer who committed suicide, a moving shadow of a crew member can be seen on the wall behind Scully.

  • Since when did Quonochontaug suddenly become the place where Mulder's sister was abducted instead of Martha's Vineyard?
Response It wasn't actually stated that Samantha disappeared the night Mulder remembers here, only that it was the night that his father and the CSM told his mother about it.

  • The date stamp says that it is April 12 and Scully says that it is Sunday, but April 12 1997 was a Saturday, not a Sunday.

  • According to the time stamps, Scully took 1 hour and 40 minutes at best to dress, pack, catch a flight from Georgetown to Providence, Rhode Island, rent a car and drive to Mulder's motel.

  • Season 4 Episode 22: Elegy

  • In the scene where Harold recites the bowling scores, one of the sets is 122 131 166 178 201. How did that bowler jump from 131 to 166 when you can't score more than 30 in a frame?

  • Season 4 Episode 21: Zero Sum

  • At 23:31 into the episode, Walter Skinner is flipping through files in Mulder's office. Only one file has a visible name tag. If you look closely it says the name Foo Fighters. It is in reference to actual foo fighters, not the band.

  • Season 4 Episode 20: Small Potatoes

  • Info from Mulder's driver's license:
    42-2630 Hegal Place
    Alexandia, VA
    DOB: 10-13-61

  • Season 4 Episode 19: Synchrony

  • Plot Hole: Scully stated in her thesis, that one universe can only produce one outcome. From that, Mulder believes that history cannot be changed and that, in the end, timetravel will be invented. However, the events prove, that history can indeed be changed, as the photo is never taken and yet exists. So either both Scully and Mulder are wrong or it is a mistake the writers of this episode made.

  • In the shot of the 6th Precinct police station, it has a California state flag flying out front. The episode took place in Massachusetts, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  • When Lisa gets off the bus, the number of the bus is different to the one we saw heading downtown, the one that she presumably was on.

  • Scully's statement that she was 23 when she wrote her senior thesis in college throws off her timeline of college, med school, residency, FBI Academy, Quantico teaching assignment for two years, and X-Files assignment at 28. Her undergraduate degree in Physics should have been completed when she was 20 or 21 to allow at least 4 or 5 years for her medical training.

  • Season 4 Episode 18: Max (2)

  • Continuity: at the beginning of the episode after the credits it shows Scully shoot twice where in the last episode she only fired once.

  • Although Agent Pendrell's first name is never revealed. In the X-Files game, it is revealed to be Sean.

  • 21:54 When Max yanked out of the plane, when the shot of him is from the window there is a visible safety landing pad on the floor of the set.

  • Why wasn't Scott Garrett returned after being abducted like Mulder said Max would have been if not for the UFO being shot down?

  • In 'Tempus Fugit' Mulder and Scully note that all the watches on the crash victims are 9 minutes ahead of the reported crash time. After Mulder's plane is intercepted in this part he sees that his watch is 9 minutes behind Skinner's watch.

Now to decide which is correct and which is the goof.

It makes more sense for the watches to be ahead because the aliens would have stopped time everywhere except on the plane so the watches would still be running, and then the aliens erased their memories, making those nine minutes "lost".

If Mulder's watch was behind in time then it means that time stopped only on the plane, but if that is true then why the need to erase everyones memories? This also goes against the events of the Pilot episode where Mulder and Scully lost nine minutes in the car and Mulder's watch is shown as being fast.

  • Season 4 Episode 17: Tempus Fugit (1)

  • On The Season Four DVD, If the English subtitles are activated, the theme to the X-Files beginning credits have "Happy Birthday Dear Dana" Playing throughout.
