The Young Doctors

Show Summary

The show was set at The Albert Memorial Hospital and centered around a group of new interns in the early years. Central characters included Brian Denham, the hospital superintendent, Helen Gordon, Ben Fielding and Tania Livingstone. The show also aired on Regional TV in the UK on most stations on the ITV network (STV Scottish never bought the show). Viewers in the Yorkshire TV region had to skip over 200 episodes (around a year's worth) in January 1993 when YTV joined Tyne Tees to screen all shows simultaneously.A potted 5 minute summary of the 200 episodes was shown several times on YTV before episodes in January 1993 Gwen Plumb (Ada Simmonds), Lyn James (Helen Gordon), Alfred Sandor (Raymond Shaw) and Tim Page (Graham Steele) were actors who lasted though the shows complete run. Other actors who joined the cast just after the show started and stayed to the end were Suzanne Stuart (Susanne Gibbs) and Judy Burnley (Tania Livingstone). Original cast member Michael Beecher (Brian Denham) left just before the shows cancellation.moreless
