    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Visable crew/equipment : When Neil has a smoke that his hippy friend gave him, he floats up into the sky, and you can see the strings lifting him up.

      • Continuity : Vyv has a beer when he enters the 'party', but when he starts doing exercises in a vain attempt to impress the girls, it's gone. He had no time to throw it away.

    • QUOTES (2)

      • Rick: Ok! Pop music! Let's go! Anyone here like the Human League? (No-one is paying attention) Ok!
(The song plays quietly. Two policemen run in and smash the record player)
Policeman 1: Right, the music's too loud! The neighbours have been complaining.

      • Caption: The BBC would like to warn all small children that pushing people into old fridges is a bloody stupid thing to do.

    • NOTES (4)

      • The music playing when Neil is on the doorstep with the potential gatecrashers is "It's My Party" by Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin. It was #1 in the UK charts in 1981.

      • Music: "You're My Kind of Climate" by Rip, Rig & Panic.

      • When Vyvyan drinks the potion and goes bald, he has 666 written on the right side of his head.

      • The Radio Times description says: "Heinrich Schtenker, the little-known but much hated amateur philosopher, famous for his epithet 'I exist therefore I am,' was run over by a tram in Vienna in 1893. Good job too."

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Shuttle Pilot: This is just like that track by David Bowie.

The track alluded to is "Space Oddity". Although they misname it as "The Jean Genie" the line "Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing we can do" is a slight misquote of "Space Oddity".
